Part of my point, Ducky: For many voters the Evangelicals are worse than a turn off, but they had a lot to say in the Republican ticket. Would this bloc have voted Republican otherwise? Dunno, but they wouldn't have voted Democrat. At worst, they would have stayed home but a different ticket might have attracted more voters and maybe made all the difference.

I'm debating buying an AR, but with this and the NY State getting taken over by the Dem's I hate to buy one only to have to give it away for nothing because they ban them. SUCKS!!!

I considered getting an AR on concern we may not be able to get them, but then decided I really have no use for one. (Remember, I'm only a liberal to y'all - among liberals I'm a conservative.) I hate to say it...but I saw this coming a year and a half ago. And me, the silhouette guy, believe it or not...I'm now doing more custom AR work than Silhouette rifles...My own "yard gun" is a 6.8 SPC...

So it's only minute of man to the mail box....but it's a long walk for a fat man to go get the mail at 250 meters.

Evelio, I don't really want or need either one, just worried about having the option later. I almost bought one awhile back for CMP competition, but after waiting four months, a month past the promised delivery date, I canceled the order and stuck with silhouette. A semi-automatic using a gas piston instead of the straight "blow back" (correct term?) used in the AR is much preferred though. That would disqualify it from CMP competition, but oh well.

Rabid anti-gun folk are particularly afraid of "black guns", never mind that they're just another rifle. But since the economy is job one, then anything that employs folks, like gun manufacturers, may be safe for awhile. Plus, the Democrats didn't get a filibuster proof majority in the senate and gun rights are a rallying point the Republicans can coalesce around.

I have two ak's and will probaly add a M1A to the mix...and more hi cap magazines for my handguns and lets not forget ammo and reloading supplies they will try to tax the hell out of it.

Gun manufacturing jobs won't be safe no matter what the economy is like. To misquote Bill, "It's NOT the economy stupid." And no, BB, I don't consider you stupid. The gun issue is NOT about public safety, it's NOT about child safety and it certainly isn't about jobs. Gun control is about the safety of the rich and the powerful from the mass of the population who don't like what they are doing.

I used to have enough family on the west side of L.A. to know how they felt about guns. They didn't want all "those people" to have the ability to rob them. That is the point of gun control.

Hey isn't this group the best in the bling wars ... I am sure we can solve the black gun problem if that is the problem. Actually I think I am one of the few people I know who's gun is still black (cz452 silhouette in black stock).

dwl, I'm not sure if it's about the rich trying to keep everyone else under control or if it's just plain 'ol fear of guns. Most of the people I know are middle class, and those that are against guns are just afraid, and I have no idea how to reassure them.

Yeah, my wife, being from San Fransisco, didn't have much experience with guns eithert. The first day we moved in together said, "You aren't bringing guns into MY house!" I pointed out that she parked her Toyota complete with 12 gallons of explosives and an ignitor system right underneath the apartment and that maybe I should go live somewhere else.

She relented but the politicians never do. So my question remains unanswered; why do politicians persist in pushing anti-gun legislation?
