Hi Folks,

Recently acquired a new 1416 D KL and noticed that when a round is loaded, the rim sits a tad proud of the face of the bore. Maybe 1mm or so. Bolt still closes and doesn't feel like it is binding, so assuming it is normal. Would this be due to a tight bore or a preference for certain types of ammo?

It's different than what I am used to in my Savage Mk II, where the round sits quite flush, so thought I would throw the question out there.

Some guns have space for the rim cut into the breech. Some guns have space for it cut into the bolt face. Some have varying amounts of both. As long as the bolt closes normally, it's fine.

It's a good sign that the chamber is tight and it's normal. It indicates the bullet driving bands are engaging the rifling before the rim seats to the breech face. Changing ammo brand should give you different results. CCI is a brand with forward driving bands that can require some effort to close the bolt. RWS or Eley should not need as much effort to chamber.
