Bruce Finley says silhouette is too easy

My dad and I have put a good bit of work into the indoor range getting ready for the upcoming air rifle regional match and needed to do a dry run. The Finleys ended up being our guinea pigs for the day. (
A big thanks to them for allowing me to use their resettable targets for light focusing.
When Bruce got tired of not being able to miss an animal, a candle was lit and placed on top of the rams as his target. Apparently that wasn't hard enough.
I propped up a cell phone by the candle and filmed from behind him capturing the moment. I would embed the video to the post here, but the admins have flash code turned off. Video is at the link below.

The candle ended up being a good test for air currents. How still the flame is while burning is pretty indicative of a lack of drafts in the range. Very pleased!

Also, the wind was 5 to 15 mph outside, AND he made the shot with a Sporter air rifle, not a Open nor a Target. A TX200. And what you see videoed, is the second time he snuffed the candle out. On his first attempt he snuffed it out on the second shot. Then the video's were set up, and again, on the second shot he put it out, and if you watch closely, you can see the wick laid down. He hit the wick at 45 measured yards. I think this should be sent in to Impossible Shots !!!

If time allows at the Regionals, it might be interesting to run a money match of candle snuffing.

Just saw the video lol great shot. But he gets those now and then.. A few years ago at the Arkansas Regional I handed him my new 6.5L HP rifle to take a shot. We were shooting at clay pigeons on the turkey berm 420 yards away. He blasts it first shot! Offhand of course.

I'd suggest he do that at the match but the range isn't quite that long.
