Since most Silhouette is outdoors (airgun indoor excluded), do you shoot seasonally? Does your range have Silhouette 12 months of the year, or seasonal? Meaning does silhouette stop in your wintertime (knowing Aussie's wintertime is June-July).

The club I belong to, Cavalier in Central Virginia, is year round (barring any heavy snowfall). Our wintertime temperature are normally in the low to mid 30's (~ 34'F). We also have an outdoor heater

I'm sure the Southern (USA) clubs are enjoying this weather now, but, I bet your summers get hot!

Is your club's Silhouette Seasonal or year-round?

Down here in AZ, they taper off a little in the summer but when I lived in IF Idaho, we had a winter indoor league with as many as 70 people shooting over 2 nights. Numbers dropped to around 15 when we went back outdoors.

We schedule an outdoor year round monthly matches. To be honest we sometimes show up for a Dec.-Feb. match have a good B.S. session as we stand around a fire and then decide to just go for breakfast.

WA is a blend of both. Tacoma Sportsmens Club is year round with 2 matches a month. 1 practice and 1 NRA on the first Sat and Second Sunday of the month.

Pe Ell, Capital City and Machias (when not under injunction) are seasonal and taper off after Oct-Nov until Feb each year.

Yup. We're damn lucky around these parts.

A plus for moving to AZ was year round matches. Back east we shot only May - Sept and then had a indoor Sporterifle season.

@JerryG, @Bob259, wish I shot Silhouette when my father was alive in (Glendale) AZ. I'd have visited.

@Bigfoot, so what's going on with Machias and their injunction? Looking at their website it reads as if there were no 2014 matches?

In Colorado we shoot pretty much year around, however in the winter if the forecast daytime high is not over 40 we will cancel the match. I have shot in lower temp and with no wind it was really okay. But once the breeze picks up it becomes not so much fun.

You are correct chuckjordan2. I actually moved to Rio Rancho a few years ago but is still in the greater Albuquerque metro area.

I was once stationed at Kirtland A.F.B. and at that time the airport designator was ABQ. I just of thought David who is in Albuquerque as how I came up with my screen name.

We get fairly cold and windy here at times so typically there are a couple of months where we show up, tell some lies and cancel the match by popular opinion.

Our club in Yuma is mostly just the six months of winter when the weather is pleasant. When the temps in the summer start going over a hundred the activity pretty much slacks off.

We are returning to a 12 match 12 month HP schedule starting next weekend. Our shooter numbers are up and some have requested going back to winter shooting. OK with me, I shoot in cold weather anyway, might as well have some company. The extended forecast for 1-4-15 shows a high of 32 and sunny. Dress warm, boys.

Machais didn't have any matches in 14. There's a lawsuit going on relating to a "alleged" lost round.

The suit is actually going to go all the way to trial, which I believe is in April of 2015.

Jason sits on the board there and I'm hoping he makes it to a match in Jan/Feb so we can get updated.

I used to schedule HP matches every month until people stopped showing up in November, December, January and February......and if I keep getting miserable attendance in April ...I'll lose that month....not by choice but since I have to bid against other disciplines ...I'll literally lose that date. Historically once lost dates are next to impossible to get back. I don't understand it....we have an excellent facility, one shoots two 40s starting at 10am and we're done by 2pm....we have an excellent target crew, a real bathroom, an air conditioned clubhouse etc.
By the way we had instances of bullets leaving the range, blamed on silhouette...but only one might have come from BPCR. We rebuilt our backstops and enforced the 'no pointing a loaded rifle over the backstop ever' rule and 'no shooting objects on the ground' plus we ass kissed the upset neighbor (made them limited life members ) and avoided proplems...just an FYI

There is a club in New Hampshire that has a shack with a stove. You open the window and shoot at the targets from there. Lots of fun.

Houston, year round, CLA and small bore...

Orlando year round, Jacksonville and Miami year around. Sometimes we break in the summer due to heat.
