This project started out with a new Anschutz 54.18 MS-R barreled action, which I sent to Mark Pharr. He installed a two grove Benchmark stainless barrel and pillar bedded it into one of his stocks. It has one of Mark's trigger guards and Marvin Pearson's rings and base. I fired about 200 round through it at Winnsboro a couple years ago and Dan Cates fired about 500 rounds through it last summer. Other than that it has been a safe queen. It weighs 8.2 pounds with the Leupold FX III 30X scope (3/8 dot) on it in the picture. The rifle without the scope is $3250 and $3750 if you want the scope - the prices are shipped to your FFL with insurance.

As John said I shot the rifle when I was in Alaska last summer. I have the sister to it here in Maricopa and am very pleased with the rifle. Dan

Thanks for bringing this rifle to my attention. This is not the rifle for my family for many reasons.

The reason Bobby didn't like the rifle is the length of pull. He has never had it in his hands. I don't want anyone to be under the impression there is anything wrong with this rifle.

This rifle is the pinnacle of silhouette rifle-smithing.

I may have missed it, but what is the length of pull on the rifle? Better yet, what is the length from the bottom edge of the pistol grip to the point of the toe?

It is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, but it sure makes me wish I would not have sold my rifles as they have gone up in price significantly from even three years ago. I bet it shoots though!

From the bottom of the grip to the toe of the pad is 11 inches. From the middle of the recoil pad to the inside rear of the trigger guard is 12 15/16 inches. I had short fingers so the trigger is set way to the rear. There is about 1/2 an inch of forward movement available for the trigger as pictured.

Wish I could buy that rifle, but it is over my limit for the time being anyway. Just curious, what sort of finish is on the barrel? It looks good in the pictures.

The reason I ask is that I have a Lilja stainless on a 54 Sporter action and I just can't find a satisfactory finish for. The smith that put it together "Cerakoted" it, and now 6 months later the finish is flaking off at ever little touch. The rifle looks a hundred years old! Terrible! If I was not already too deep into the rifle I would rebarrel it with a chrome moly just so the rifle could be deep blued.

The barrel is actually stainless - it looks blue in the picture but it isn't.
