I managed to get a left hand CZ 452 Lux that I might use for Hunter. Problem is, with its hogback comb I can only get so-so cheek weld if the butt is very high. My long neck doesn't help matters. If I swap out rings, which should I adjust for: best cheek weld which will require short rings, or a lower butt with tall rings and a cheek weld that's more like jaw weld?

It is personal preference but I would rather have the high rings so I don't have to crane my head. I shot good scores for a long time with a "jaw weld".

Which one is most comfortable and repeatable to you? Assuming you expect to practice a lot, anything uncomfortable is going to cause trouble in tendons and joints. For me, the "Jaw weld" is so practiced that it feels good. Yes, my Robertson's Nesika Bay stock feels better, but those are a little tough to come by right now.

For me getting elbow on my hip is first prority. Next is good cheek weld, have to give up good buttplate contact in my shoulder pocket to get cheek weld. Erect head is a good thing but very difficult to obtain if long necked. High buttplate is the only way I can get good cheek contact and erect head with a stock that passes the rule.

Everybody is different what works for me may not work for you.

Comb raisers are nice, but theres still those pesky rules.

That is a good question as regarding the rules. Is this considered an attachment to the stock either temporary or permanent?? Even if it would fit in the Jig??

I glued a 1/4" foam pad to a 700 BDL comb years ago...passed certification at Nationals 2001 through 2005 without question.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I found a good compromise height that seems to position my head ok.
