Every once in a while I hear about a big regional or state match that just finished that I didnt know anything about. This should never happen! Anyone who visits SteelChickens should be able to go to one place and see the dates and locations of every big match in the country for the year.

So, my suggestion is to put a calendar on SteelChickens. It's easy to put one on here (I know Yahoo! groups have them and they are on websites all over). I suggest that the calendar be reserved only for posting regional, state or national matches (no local matches). Every member of SteelChickens is allowed access (or it can be somewhat restricted) and a match representative simply places the name, location and contact info/website for the match on the dates on the calendar which the match falls.

Can we make this happen???

Since this is run on zoomla, look at gcalendar, has a great interface to google calendars.

I agree a calender would be great, BUT the main steelchickens page is still advertising for the 2012 southern nationals. Who exactly is going to maintain this calendar?

Like I said before, Give SteelChickens members access to the calendar and the match directors or match representatives can put their information on the dates of the match. It's really quite simple and doesnt require maintence. Just need strict rules that ONLY state championships, regional championships and national championships may be placed on the calendar.

The good think about using the gcalender plugin, is each group can create their own gmail calendar and any date are immediately reflected in the combined calendar. See www.bayourifle.org -> club calendar.

That's a killer idea. I'll try to get some beers into mordecai this weekend at the state match here in Washington.i know he's been working to much but will hopefully show at Pe Ell Saturday/Sunday.

Case in point. I had no idea that the Washington state match was this weekend. If we had a calendar, I would know all about it and I would be there.

The match this weekend was a monster and only Dennis shot anything resembling his normal score. We'd live to improve the Cajun count round these parts at matches. Rich DeJean needs some company!

I do plan on going to Conard Cup this year. I need someone to ship my rifle to so I'll probably be asking you or Jason about that. I can't wait to come up there but I can't help you on your Cajun count. I'm not Cajun.

Dustin, just carry your rifle with you, it not like flying into the NE with a rifle.

From experience I'd recommend flying with the rifles (even though I work for ups) and shipping ammo if you're doing center fire. For the Conard you should be good but if you do want to ship let me set the labels up for you.
