while trying to get my sb setting, i ran out of scope adjustment from turkeys to rams. my question is, which is the easy way of shimming the scope? thanks....dan

Signature Rings, there are other ways but these are the best, other than custom rings.

I usually take a pop can and cut out one a smalle peice that you can put on the bottom half of you mounts and form the peice to the shape that you need. You can take as make as many layers as you need depending on how much adjustment you need.

Years ago I found out about the coke can shim method. Ever since, I have put "3" shims under the scope at the rear scope ring. How I learned this was I was at a NRA smallbore silhouette regional at Raton. I was new and experimenting with different setups. The first day I shot my Anschutz 54.18 (which I had a "bloop tube" for, but did not have it on the rifle) and wasn't happy with my score, so, the next morning, during practice, I attached the "bloop tube" and started sighting in, but ran out of adjustment at the Rams. What was going on? I asked a fellow what could have happened, and he asked, did I change anything from the day before?? I told him what I had done and he said I could do one of two things, either put it back the way it was, or, shim the rear of the scope. I put it back the way it was and everything was OK. The reason for the difference, was that when you hang about a pound of weight out on the end of the barrel, it flexes the barrlel and action ever so slightly and you can run out of adjusment with your scope. Ever since, whenever I mount up a scope on a Silhouette rifle, be it smallbore of High Power, I put "3" shims at the rear. I have never ran out of adjustment since. Every scope that I have for Smallbore Sill. competition is shimed with 2 to 3 layers of the fancy thin plastic busisness cards, they are not affected by any weather changes.
