Texas State Air Rifle match next month....

It was Steigered to my attention today there is a scheduling conflict-ish....

We have the air rifle match Saterday then a Small bore match on Sunday. I also have a CLA/HP match on Sunday. Most of the local club guys who shoot CLA shoot SB also. I am going to ask them if they want to have the scheduled CLA match on Sunday or just go ahead and cancel it and shoot the SB match on Sunday. Anyone here planning on attending the state air rifle match want to shoot a CLA match
on Sunday instead? One caveat we have is the PC match is limited to 22MAG because of range rules.

Either PM me or just reply to this thread if your interested.

Thanks,

Emmett

Emmett,

It doesn't matter to me, I'll shoot whatever. However, it occurs to me that everyone who shoots air rifle shoots scoped smallbore but not necessarily SBCR & PCCLA. We will have 4-5 in our group traveling from Louisiana and at least one of those (Dee) doesn't shoot cowboy silhouette because he is a wiener.

Your call but I think you'd get more participation from the air rifle folks with a smallbore match.

You missunderstand. The small ore match will happen reguardless. I'm gauging interst wether to cancel the clubs CLA match which is on Sunday also.

Oops, I think Mr. Emmett has mis-spoken. There is not a scheduling conflict. Pat just pointed out that we have tentatively scheduled a small-bore fun match the same time we have a registered CLA match. Pat for some reason was concerned.

We may cancel the small-bore match if the shooters of the airgun match (who this match is mainly held for) would rather attend the cowboy match. Or we could run the CLA match in the morning as scheduled and the SB match in late morning or right after lunch.

As I spoke with Emmett last night the CLA match should not be canceled as canceling published matches IMHO is not the correct procedure.

Actually they can both run at the same time. The only problem is local people shoot both so they would have to decide wether to shoot SB sunday or CLA/HP Sunday. Doesn't matter to me but if there is only going to be a couple poeple and me at the CLA range I'd be just as happy to cancel the match and go shoot SB with everyone else. Or if there is a contengent of people coming in from out of town that would like to shoot CLA Sunday I'll run my match. I'm good either way. I do like shooting my Contenders..... :D

Emmett,

What did you decide. You going to have a cowboy match on Sunday after TX airgun?

Spoke to Emmett to night both will be run. Bring both and have fun all day.... Nothing like 7 guns in the car..... Got to enjoy them until the US goes completely to hxll in a hang basket like CA.

Yes we'll have the CLA/HP match Sunday morning. You get your choice Sunday of shooting SB or CLA. Maybe next year we'll put a little more thought into it and have the SB in the AM and a CLA/HP match in the afternoon though that would make for a LONG day.....

Why not just forget about the SB all together and shoot air rifle on both days? We travel there for the air rifle match but we end up staying a extra night for the SB match the next day which adds another nights hotel stay for what amounts to a typical club match. Not to mention it adds even more guns when we are already toting 3 a piece for the airguns. Make the matches 80 shots with 2 rifles on Saturday and one on Sunday and we would still leave out for home around the same time. Don't get me wrong we love to shoot SB there as well but we consider this one of the few air rifle silhouette events to even attend in the US that we are aware of. Winnie, The TX State match and now here in Baton Rouge for the Nationals. Being so few we need to maximize the shooting we do with those rifles IMO. So I wouldn't shed a tear over the SB Sunday fun match going away  Oh and FYI I am not suggesting this format for this year :)
