I want to buy a new Tikka T3 Sporter, 6.5 x 55, but need help on which length of barrel to choose. This rifle comes in a 510 mm (20") or 600 mm (24") barrel. I want to use this rifle for silhouette shooting, little bit of bench-resting and the occasional hunting of buck and varmints. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure that stock design will be legal for sil's they are really deep below the action around the mag well.

You are probably going to have weight problems with the 24-inch bull barrel. I think that rifle weighs just under 10 lbs with the 24-inch barrel. That doesnt leave you much room to keep it under 10.2 with a scope. I am also not sure that the stock is legal.

You will have issues with the stock depth and probably weight as well. It would be well worth a look at one of the other t3 models though eg the laminated stock hunter or the new forest model with the rollover cheekpiece. Even the light barrel models are very accurate and they make a great hunting rifle and you will definitely be able to use it for both rifle classes.

Thank you guys, you saved me from an expensive mistake! I totally forgot about the forearm depth and the rifle weight constraint. I was so excited about owing something different and very accurate, that I did not do my homework probably.
Thanks again!
