How many people would be genuinely interested in a silhouette specific stock in either hardwood or laminate for the CZ45x action? I think I have someone who would be willing to make them but only if there was a market.

Silhouette shooters want a 1 pound stock with a 9 pound barrel.....

Hard to come up with that combination in wood.

I have a wood (walnut) Pharr duplicate stock on my hunter gun. I had to add half a pound of lead to get it up to Hunter weight. This is my Anschutz model 64 with a 24x Leupold and steel Burris rings. I imagine most sporter barrel CZ actions are the same weight as mine. Wood is no problem for the sporter barrels. By the time someone is trying to make weight with heavy custom barrels they aren't shooting CZs anymore.

There are a lot of CZs in the racks at matches. It seems to be the most popular entry level (through AA) rifle. I would imagine there would be a market for silhouette stocks for them. What that market would be I don't know.

Reason I ask is that I think with enough people interested I could get a run of stocks made.
I personally believe the stock and trigger are the only things really holding the CZ back. I've got some ideas for fixing the trigger (single-stage for now, but fully adjustable and cheap). The barrel can be sorted quite easily with a Lilja if you feel that is holding you back (not me).

I'm new to silhouette shooting but I've been classified AA and last time out I shot a 31 and 27 in hunter. That was with the stock nearly on-top of my shoulder. I think if I could get the butt actually onto my shoulder with a decent cheek weld that would make a huge difference.

I figured there might be others interested in the same thing. No 54.18MS money available unfortunately.

If the price is right, I'd like to buy a stock for both my dad's CZ and my nephew's CZ. What do you think they will cost?

As for whether a CZ will cut it, there is no doubt that it will. I have Anschutz rifles now but that's only because of the trigger. I like two-stage triggers and the Anschutz trigger is the best. I started with a CZ and shot it into high AAA. It's a great rifle and would be REALLY great with a better stock.

I think too much is made of equipment in this game. Shooting high scores is all about the shooter. One of our top local shooters still shoots a CZ 452 and I shot a high master score with my dad's the other day. Upgrading to an Anschutz is only necessary if someone REALLY wants an Anschutz. I dont think that any silhouette shooter that is not a high Master shooter can outshoot a CZ.

I think you'll have a good market with the silhouette crowd if you can produce a really nice stock that doesnt cost too much.

I'm not going to be producing them, but perhaps getting a run of stocks produced by a reputable maker. I believe there would be a sustainable market for such a stock, especially if it could be inlet for the Savage MkII, and perhaps the Annie actions too.
Likely the cost would be $200-300 for an inlet semi-finished stock. Perhaps a little cheaper if I can get enough made.

Ideally I'd like to find a manufacturer who already produces a stock which would work well and just convince them to inlet it for the CZ action. Or see if I could convince Boyds to modify their Rimfire Hunter model with a higher comb and slightly more drop at the heel.

I find CZs are back heavy to start with. Enough so that any stock I get produced will get some lead in the fore-end up to the maximum 8.5# allowed for Hunter class.

Still working on this one. I've found quite a few companies but none that I'd really trust to do a good job.

Ideally I'd like to see Boyds do one just because their inletting really is "drop-in" and that is the kind of stock I want to see made.

I'd be interested in one for my 453 Varmint. I'd like the comb to be as high as it can go and still get the bolt out. I'll sand it down to fit me.

I would be interested for sure!! Also the trigger problem is fixable. You can buy a Rifle Basix for $89.00 and it works very well. It is a single stage trigger and has alot of adjustment.
