looking to get started in high power and trying to find a good starting point for chickens 200 meters(219 yrd)pigs 300 meters(328yrd) turkeys 385 meters(421 yds) rams 500 meters (547yds) ammo is 140gr amax 6.5 creedmoor 2700fps using luepold vxii 6-18 1/4 moa adj trying to find out my come up in clicks from a 100 yrd zero

Chickens - up 2.2 MOA from 100yd zero (9 clicks)
Pigs - up 5.1 MOA from 100yd zero (20 to 21 clicks)
Turkeys - up 7.75 MOA from 100yd zero (31 clicks)
Rams - up 12.1 MOA from 100yd zero (48 to 49 clicks)

Those will of course vary depending on your elevation and atmospheric conditions. I shoot a couple of Creedmoor chambered rifles and it just might be the best balanced cartridge available for silhouette. Love it. I also use one for 1,000yd F-class. Good stuff.

Trent gave a good answer to the question that you asked, but I would definitely suggest that you have two different loads for highpower silhouette. The load you have is great for rams, but is a bit much for the closer three animals. Even if you don't develop a flinch from shooting that heavier-recoiling load for all of the animals, the heavier recoil will make inconsistencies in your hold/stance have a much greater affect on your bullets' point of impact on the target. Additional recoil will also result in more fatigue, especially if shooting multiple matches, and hotter loads wear out barrels and brass faster.

any lighter load recommendations for 6.5 creedmoor for cpt,as of right now i have not begun any load work ups,my only loads availabe to shoot at this time are factory 6.5 creedmoor 140gr match ammo

My current CPT load from my Creedmoor is a 120gr Sierra MK on top of 39gr of Varget. That load is the same charge that Hornady loads their factory 120gr ammo at. I think I'll probably lighten that load up a bit since Hodgdon lists the min load at 36gr Varget. A three grain drop in charge weight should give me a noticeable decrease in recoil. Not that the Creedmoor is kicker anyway. It's a nice cartridge to shoot. I just need to spend some time on the bench testing the lighter load.

36gr Varget under a 107gr SMK is the ticket. YMMV

Not yet. But there's always a first time!

I've got a pile of em but never tried any yet. Gonna have to load some up.
