I bought a 1712 FWT this afternoon. It's the one that was listed for sale in the classifieds a couple weeks ago.

Well, I should have used the advice above, I could have saved $500 or so on the CZ 452 that I bought which is now being replaced by the 1712. Oh well, you can't have too many rifles anyway.

Hopefully I'll have the 1712 by next weekend, and will be mounting a scope, sighting in, and having fun.

I don't know what you have to be sorry about....well maybe I do if you actually paid $500 for a CZ. Mine were around 325 and I liked the first one so much I bought another and even though I now own a 1712 it won't shoot $1000 better than my CZ. It just gives me a little more confidence and I still carry my CZ for a backup gun.

I think I paid $360 for the 452 Varmint out the door at the local shop. Then along the way I bought a second hand CZ Silhouette stock (somewhere around $80 if I remember) which was later modified to be more like a Pharr-style stock (higher cheeckpiece, reshaped forend, more vertical grip). Then there was another $80 for the Timney trigger. That's a little more than $500.

Now that I have the 1712, I'll probably put the CZ action back into the original walnut Varmint stock.

The underlying point is that if I had bought the 1712 up front, I wouldn't have spent the $500+ on the CZ. I would have the 1712 and more money in the bank.

The flip side is, you can't have too many .22's, and I'll probably never part with either of them (It just means I'll have to buy another gun safe sooner). The CZ will make an excellent backup gun.

Anyway, I read that saying many years ago (Buy the best and only cry once), and it's never been proven wrong yet.

A nice rifle bought right holds value pretty well. My mistake was spending a lot of time and energy trying to make a rifle shoot better than the manufacturer had intended. Yes, I learned a great deal, but that was time that could have been spent in practice.

Hey Evelio that sounds great. Nothing like the thoughts of a new rifle making a rainy day brighter.

I got your adds for the bykes, I almost got my ass killed on one of them about 40 years ago, and I learned a big lesson, the way I look at it, bykes are more dangerous than guns.
Sorry, I can't tell you what Kitty is getting, he don"t even know except for the caliber, 6.5x47 Lapua.
