I've loaded the bullets for hunting and they grouped very well in my Marlin xlr 30-30 and my 1894 Winchester. I think that they will really flatten out the trajectory of the 30-30, but my hunting rifle has peeps and a fire sight front so I'm going to limit my shots to 100 yards anyway. I have not tried the powder yet but hope to this summer. Like Al said...the pointed bullets are not legal in Cowboy lever action.

I've tried Leverevolution powder. It's good for obtaining some extra velocity and accuracy is good. I don't know how temperature stable it is and I suspect it's better than most ball powders.
You don't need the velocity for cowboy rifle silhouette. Varget, H4895, and many other of Hodgdons extreme powder series work well with minimum temperature sensitivity issues.

What would make the FTX Bullets not legal for our game?

That would be Rule 3.1.3 (a) A. ..."A rimmed case loaded with a round or flat nosed bullet must be used."

The way it was explained to me was that although the FTX bullets are fairly flexable other polymer tipped bullets are not. To avoid any confusion and possibly using the wrong bullets they are not allowed. Al Foust
