Got the Puma .357 out to its first match yesterday, managed a 31x40 which for some of you doesn't sound too sparkly but for me at my age is acceptable, did not miss any that I didn't call a miss, rifle shoots exactly where it's pointing, now if I could just point it a little better everything would be fine. I wound up with a trigger pull around 1 1/2 pounds after installing the sping kit from Brownells and smoothing out the action, it is going to take some time for me to get used to this as it is much lighter than any rifle I have owned previously. The load of 5 grains of Bullseye and Berry's 125 grain bullet very accurate and knocks down the rams right smartly. So, I am going to keep this rifle, am very happy with it and look forward to many more years of enjoyment with it.

Nice shooting there and congrats on getting it shooting well. Any match above 30/40 is a good match.. there's just occasional great matches that keep us all coming back.

Also use 5.0 gr of Bullseye with 125 gr Hunters specialty TC bullets and find it very accurate in my Marlin CB 24

@jnyork, thank you for this thread. My (new to me) Rossi 92 used the load off this thread for my first PC-CLA match and I scored decent (28/40). 5.0 BE w/125Gr Berrys. Now will have to fine tune the load.

BTW, I've been shooting SB-CLA for a few years and had a hard time finding the right rifle for PC-CLA.

So a 'thank you' is in order for this thread!

Very close to what I shot in a Contender. 4.0gr in a 12" barrel shot 1100 FPS. I'd bet you are right there.

About 1150-1200 IIRC. Almost no recoil, like shooting a .22. This in .357.

Thanks all! That's about the velocity I'd like to get (1160-1200 fps). I'd like to match the velocity to .22lr Federal Automatch. Ya'll know the routine of having a similar setup.

Again, on the first outing it was only 10 sightin shots, then a match. I'll need to see how the groups are.

Since I'm on this subject, I have 9mm Berry 124Gr (.354 dia) projectiles too. If they group OK, I may use them for the chix & pigs.

Don't chase a number. What ever your best grouping is use that. Same velocities are not going to get you the same sight settings, the 357 bullet has a low BC and higher weight so even velocities won't equal even sight settings.

OK, LGS had 700X and I bought some (other powder is about non-existant). It burns (according the Hodgdon website) slightly faster than Bullseye.

Has anyone experienced accurate loads with 700X in the Rossi 92 (38/357)? I was thinking about 4.6gr to maybe 4.9gr behind a Berry's 125gr. Anybody try this already and are willing to share your results? Trying to have mild loads in the 1000fps - 1100fps range. Not chasing a number, chasing an accurate load.

Basicly the same I'm shooting with the same rifle. 125gr XTP, 7gr PB, don't know the velocity but it's in the 11-1200 range and will hold a 2" group at 50 yards no problem with iron sights.
