How many calories do you burn doing a half ironman? I just competed in the Timberman 70.3 Half Ironman and this question was asked to me. I know it all depends on how fast you go and maybe some other factors, but is there a rough estimate?

2 ea 60 round SB matches in the morning and then 2 ea 40 round HP matches in the afternoon. Then the same thing again on Sunday. You either have to be one tough SOB or one stupid one to sign up for that more than once. :ymdevil:

benqthena must have done a google search for Ironman competitions and found the steel chickens site. But he is obviously talking about the run/bike/swim type of competition, not our type.

Hey Mary, the Grenz got a speeding ticket in his little black go cart just inside the Montana side of Wyoming. HP = Highway Patrol in this instance. :)) =))

Thanks for the watermelon each day Tom, good snack on such hot days.

Actually, it won't have much to do with speed. Only distance. You know a rough approximation is the best you can do, right?

Assuming you're average weight, reasonably fit and reasonably efficient, you'll use around 130 calories per mile traveling on foot, walking or running. Hit google for the best guesses on swimming and biking.

1/2 as many as a full Ironman would be my guess  Or twice as many as a 1/4 Ironman.

It was for 9 over and it was in WY. They gave me a discount on the fine because I was belted. $67 is what I have to send them. 2 speeding tickets in the last 10 years and both were for less than 10 over and both were in WY. ASSHOLES!!!!!! :ymdevil:

12-40round matches on Sat. and 12-40round matches on Sun. and 4-40round matches on Labor Day. 28 matches in 2 1/2 days. Now that's an Ironman.
