Taught him well.....phone rings while on the trip back from Winnsboro...it's JJP....'Well, we are officially related...ran out of gas just off the interstate in Middle of Nowhere, Mississippi...called all the convenience stores the phone could find, not one has a gas can (sounds a lot like Pa)...dads walking to find a gas station, I'm guarding the guns and stuff"...fortunately a kind young lady picked up John and got them enough gas to get to the next station...after Jason McCurry and friends, and now JJP, I don't feel nearly as bad about running out of gas at Ridgeway a couple of years ago....now if I can just find a good way to get around reading about Miss Kitty and my 37th wedding anniversary late in the evening on the 31st of May (anniversary) on facebook, I'll be okay....

They ran outta gas in Mississippi?? Something tells me they didn't get gas before they hit the road. Even pulling their little midget camper they should have at least made it into Alabama before running out of gas if they had started out full. Something tells me that they lost their Louisiana atlas that they won as a door prize and they got lost wondering around LA and ran out of fuel trying to escape.

I think there was a "debate" between JJP and his dad over the funcionality of the trip computer in the truck...IMHO the trip computer doesn't know when you are pulling a camper and knocking back 6 MPG.....

Well now Kitty the story I got was that the young lady that picked John up for showing a little leg had to go to three different gas stations....no gas cans, then to a store , still no gas can, finally borrowed a two gallon can from her Grandmother, and even followed jjp to the gas station to make sure he made it...

What is this with running out of gas, even loaded as I was and having lousy gas milage due to all the ammo weight you sold those North Cubans I didn't quite run out of gas.

Yep, ran out of fuel. I was getting 10-11mpg. It was just totally Awesome!!!!! (Bitting my tongue here) Lucky a nice young lady in the Army stationed in El Paso stopped and picked up the old man. I will fill in the details when I get caught up. All travel trailers suck fuel. Long or short. They are big sails!!! Lol!! :D Then I was the dumb dumb knowing there was gallons between exits with stations. Next time I will have my farm tank onboard and it will never get spoken of. :D

I will post the whole "TRUTH" about this situation a little later. Probably after dinner. Even the facts about the "HOT" young lady in her sheer white sun dress taking me to her Grandmothers house.

I have a teen aged girl, I gave my truck to. The gas gauge has been inoperative the 3 years she's owned it, and she's NEVER, EVER run out of gas. :-t She has to use the odometer, does the math in her head, and she's blond. What does that say about yous guys? I guess they need to hook a capacitor up to the seat to give you a charge when the low fuel light comes on, eh? =)) I reall want to go down to Hollywood and do that to baby huey's vehicle, maybe 40-50thousand volts? Arm it with the dome light, trigger it with a weight in the seat switch?

Here is the short story. If you want the whole version e-mail me and I will send it to you. We stop to get gas and there is only one pump that we can get the truck/trailer to. As we approach the pump someone cuts us off and stops 6 feet from the pump, gets out and runs into the gas station. No way to get fuel there. We pull out and plan to get fuel at the next exit. We now find ourselves in a construction zone. No gas stations at the next 2 exits. Then we notice that the westbound lanes of I-20 are shut down because of the construction and detoured. JJP is on phone ordering some parts for some rifles he is building. These parts have to be machined and fitted separately for each rifle. So he is concentrating on the instructions so they will get them machined correctly. Next two exits closed because of the costruction. Now he is off the phone the truck is letting us know "Low Fuel". He checks computer and it says next gas station 32 miles away. The truck doesn't know it is pulling a trailer so it thinks it can make it. We figure that we can make it about 25 miles. We now know we will run out of gas. We travel 21 miles and get off I-20 the truck runs out of fuel at the top of the off ramp. JJP stays with the truck/trailer I walk to the road about 100 feet. A young lady pulls up and asks if I need some help. (she looks like a very petite Jennifer Lopez and is wearing a sheer white sun dress WOW!! every boys fantasy, being picked up in the middle of nowhere by a beautiful woman) She said she would help and told me to get in. Notice that she has a small baby with her. Drove to a very small town stopped at first gas station. They don't have any gas, or a gas can either. Stop at Dollar General no gas can. Only other gas station has gas but no gas can. She said that she was taking her baby to her Grandmothers where she can go shopping before she returns to El Paso where she is stationed in the army. (she knows who Jose Rodriguez is small world) We go to her Grandmothers drop of the baby, Grandmother has no gas can but Uncle does , so we go see uncle and he gives us a 2 gallon gas can. Go back to gas station get 2 gallons in can and I put 13 gallons in here car. ($50 for my 2 gallons). I call JJP tell him I on my way back and to make a funnel. Gas can has no top or spout on it. We get to truck pour in the 2 gallons, We need to go 11 miles, don't know if we can make it or not. She follows us to make sure we make it to the gas station, we pull into the truck stop she waves and gets back on I-20. Bad situation ends very nicely.

Hey Papa John, that's the short story?
