That is what everyone got last weekend at the Az State SB matches at the hands of one, Tyler Rico. Both guns as a matter of fact, put a beat down especially in standard rifle. To add insult to injury it was with a barrowed gun and ammo (both mine) and I was spotting for him. The kid can shoot.

Tyler Rico Repeats as Top Junior in National Trophy Matches
Tyler Rico of Tucson, AZ was the top junior of the National Trophy Matches, a feat he also accomplished in 2009. Rico was the high overall junior in the 2010 National Trophy Rifle Matches with an Aggregate score of 1262-35X. For the past two years running, Tyler has won the Col. Bill Deneke Trophy awarded to the top junior shooter in an aggregate of the President’s 100, the National Trophy Individual Match, and the National Trophy Junior Team Match. In the photo, GySgt. R. Arizona’s Tyler Rico Wins 10m Air Rifle at NJOSC
Tyler Rico — remember that name. We predict you’ll be hearing much more about this young man in the years ahead. Tyler, the youngest shooter ever to earn the CMP Distinguished Rifleman Badge, is one of the best of the new generation of shooters coming up through the junior ranks. With very sound fundamentals, Tyler has shown the ability to shoot just about any kind of rifle, at any distance — from 10m to 1000 yards. And despite his young age, Tyler has the discipline and mental focus it takes to win. Tyler demonstrated that most recently at the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships (NJOSC) where he won the 10m Air Rifle Title, securing a place on the National Junior Team. Tyler will continue to compete in NJOSC smallbore competition over the next few days, where he will be one of the favorites in the Men’s 50m Rifle Three Position and Men’s 50m Rifle Prone.

He is leaving for the Air Force Academy the end of next month, he told me that they started recruting him at that air rifle match, he also said that he went to that mach and had never shot an air rifle before. Tony, how about the Cali match?

Jim, I did not go to it so I know little about the results. They had 30 shooters in attendance. Dennis Dadian won the standard rifle and Luis Bernardez won the hunter rifle but that is all I know.

Jim, we are very fortunate to meet one young shooter with potential to be a world beater every ten years or so. I remember Adam Saathoff from AZ in the late 80's early 90's when he was shooting small bore silhouettes he won a hunter rifle NRA national title in 1992 and then went to make it big in International competition including Olympics in moving target. Cathy Winstead as a Jr. shooter also started winning important matches and now seems to be on a class of her own and who can forget Agustin Sanchez Jr. winning 19 national titles in 7 years, his first few as a Jr. shooter. Now is Tyler's turn to make it big in the shooting sports. I wish him the best.

This kid reminded me of Sanchez. I had shot with him acouple times before and he used my 54.18, when I had it. May e-mailed me afew days before the match and said that Tyler was going to be there and he wanted to shoot my gun, I told her no problem, but I was shooting a 1712. Sat , I showed up at the range about 8, let the kid know where my settings on the scope was, at the end of the day he was winning by 11 in standard rifle and 5 in hunter rifle. Sunday he put up a total of 98 in standard, I was second with an 80, in hunter, he had a 95, and I was second in that also with an 88, I think Joy finished one behind me with both guns.

That is terrific shooting Jim, invite Tyler to the Nationals.
