High Power practice at 100 yards?

Just put toghther a high power rifle, but only have access to 100 yards. What is going to give me a feel as far as a target for the real thing? Would a SB ram be to scale?
Thanks
chuck

High power Targets are "Full size" ever thing else is scaled off high power. Small bore targets are 1/5 size. Cowboy lever and Hunters pistol are 1/2 size so the correct target for 100 yard High Power chicken practice would be the Hunters Pistol chicken. If you are trying to duplicate exact. If you shoot the actual Small bore or CLA animals with a High power rifle they won't last long.
Way I practice is spray paint the animals on cardboard. Brown background looks like the dirt in actual matches. Use the proper steel animal and spray paint the outline. Get some thin plywood and use the outline to jig saw out a stencil then you can spray paint targets in short order.
I practice on paper, no worries with re-setting or spotters. Hole in the cardboard tells you exactly what you are doing. If you really want the most benefit make up a spotting board. Stick a pin in were you call the shot. Scope the strike then pin it with a different color. High power is expensive per shot plus recoil limits long practice sessions. Best to get the most out of each shot.

If you are practicing for highpower, print out smallbore rams and put them at 100 meters. Then they'll be to scale. Smallbore targets are 1/5 scale and putting them at 1/5 distance, 100 meters instead of 500 meters, will give you correct apparent size.

Exactly, then you are shooting the same visual on Chickens and Rams. It's important to pratice on each critter cause they look different and you mind needs to see what it's going to shoot. Pigs and Turkeys you can run though a good copier and expand the smallbore animals to scale @ 100

Boats don't tell that to 'Ironman Bob' or aka the Guru (Goatru), Mr. 7-08. He's been known to shoot well over 200 rounds practicing. ;)
Then again.. maybe all that recoil has shook something lose

I think you have stumbled on to a fact Bob. I just hope it doesn't start to affect his lovely wife.

I have mostly practiced at 200mtrs, with scaled targets, sprayed onto cardboard, with a cutout stencil.
as 'Boats' does.
Shoot 5 shots on each animal.
Then I just patch them up and have another go. (until I get it right !!!)
You can scale your own at 100, with the NRA prints provided here;
http://www.nrahq.org/compete/dept-silh.asp
Just print the 4 HPR targets onto A4 or Letter, 'scaled to fit, and toggle the percentages in the printer controls, and measuring the grid, and you will get something suitable to work from.
(Maybe there are some available already scaled somewhere ?)
Shooting cast lead 'boolits' in reduced loads will help to reduce costs, and is also heaps of fun,
and reduces recoil of course.
Helps to practice the hold and trigger control, and the follow through at the slower velocities exiting the barrel.
(gotta find your reasonably accurate 'boolit' and load, though that doesn't lead the barrel !)
cheers,
SS

Light practice loads are good up to a point, but you also need to shoot enough full power ammo to get used to handleing the recoil so you can shoot a full match and have enough reserve to handle a shootoff, or in other words perhaps, to get match fit.
