I have the opportunity to spend some time this winter in So Cal -- near Irvine, CA. Where does one shoot SB silhouette in the area (within +/- 1 hour)? How often are matches?

topclass, you can shoot SB at the West End Gun Club near San Bernardino on the first Sunday of the month,

at the Fish and Game shooting range in Escondido by Lake Wolford on the second Sunday of the month.

And you can always shoot alongside of the pistol shooters on the second weekend of the month at LASC near Sylmar, with the Cowboy rifle shooters on the third Sunday of the month and with the SB pistol shooters the fourth Saturday of the month. http://www.lasc.us/

You can subscribe to the NRA free publication SSUSA where a lot of sanctioned matches are published

There may be other places but the ones I mentioned are the ones I am most familiar with. I believe they hold matches at the Dulzura rifle club near San Diego and also in Victorville but I have not been there in years.
