Some Questions About 1712 Bottom Metal: Is there any aluminum factory pieces out there ?
Is Pharr bottom metal aluminum ?
Will Pharr metal interchange with anschutz Bottom metal with out any modifications ?

The Pharr bottom metal is wider than the Anschutz, the stock would have to be open up for it to fit. The only other aluminum trigger guard that I know of, is the one made by Marvin Pearson ( METALHEAD ) it is a piece of art, not sure, but I don't think it would fit either without modifying the stock.

Yes they are Aluminum but I do not think you can just slap one right on a factory inletting job. I could be wrong as I have never owned a 1712 without the Pharr bottom metal but I really want to say the factory setup is a tad narrow compared to the Pharr.

I would ask if you have the Fat Pharr Trigger Blade? This will fit without any problems and be something that actually could help your score at the same time compared to the thinner stock trigger blade, unless you like the thin feeling blade already. The bottom metal adds the bling but it doesn't do squat to aid your shooting.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong about the inlet portion.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Outdoor Silhouette ends in September where I live, Western NY. To keep shooting my 1712, I want to shoot sporterifle and need to trim some weigth to make the 7 1/2 pound limit. I have swapped scope and rings to save weight. I weighed the bottom metal and it seemed to be a good place for weight savings.

Sporter Rifle? Do you mean hunter? If so the weight limit is 8 and 1/2 and not 7 and 1/2.

I believe he's talking about a winter league match run locally. We used to shoot it a version at the Bluegrass State games that was a variation on 3-P.

BH, international rules are different to the NRA rules.

Thanks Kitty, I pulled a 26 out of nowhere in the match this month and schould have shot a 30-32 but I choked on the pigs. Only shot 4, but we shoot so fast since we have no relays that by the 30-40th shot my shoulder started to weaken and I really just started shaking way more than I was use too. Shot 9chicks 8rams and 5turkeys though. Much room to improve but Im just happy I'm able to get back to shooting!

BH, Sporterifle here is indoor league up here we shoot in the winter and is shot on A-32 targets. They have an archaic rule on the weight max being 7.5 lbs, even though the NRA Light Rifle rules moved to 8.5 lbs. We have tried for more years then not to get it changed to bring in more shooters, but the powers to be will not consider it.

I consider it a feeder sport to get people and kids involved in our clubs and possibly new shooters for Silhouette, CMP, etc., but it falls on deaf ears when it comes to the board.

The early 1712s that had the mcmillian stock were built to be 7.5 pound rifles with the scope. The barrel was shorter and had a thin contour, it had the large trigger guard, and it had a single stage trigger. I had one for a week and sold it. The barrel may have been marked 1700?
