A friend of mind sent me an email with this information. It shows how much difference one individual can make and how little the person in charge of the silhouette program does for us. I wish Jonathan Leighton was running the silhouette department. Look at all the nice medals, merchandize, etc.

Lay's spotter, Dan Theodore, received the High Spotter Award for his exceptional work in helping Keith make the proper adjustments throughout the match that led to his victory. Dan Theodore is one of our own silhouette shooter brothers. Besides being a good shot Dan spotted for Tim Kurreck who won several rifle silhouette championships in the late 90's early 2000's

In addition to the medal and trophy plaque, Lay was also awarded with a black powder rifle donated by Gale and Paul Shuttleworth of Central Pennsylvania Arms. But the rifle wasn't just a Central PA creation as the barrel came from Dave Gullo of Buffalo Arms and the sights were donated by Mechanical Accuracy's Steve Baldwin. medal, trophy plaque and a rifle? Some of our champions only get a picture of the actual trophy.

I agree with your observations. In spite of many suggestions that have been brought up in competitor's meetings and "taken to committee" no real change has taken place. If we don't lose Jonathan along the way he will make an excellent Silhouette Director...Hopefully he won't become frustrated along the way and bail on us.

Might be going out on a limb to some, but Jon would be make a great director for smallbore when the time comes! Also, I like how he's giving out prizes that can be used. Not complaining about the 10-20lbs of granite I won but as a young shooter, a paper certificate and rifle case would mean more, and do more for me! Keep the granite for the TOP 5 or something, idk. Just my opinions though. But I can tell you one thing from a few conversations I had with him up at Ridgeway. A. He truely wants the best for the sport, and B. He has a ton of new and awesome ideas to really help the sport.
