I'm having the age old plroblem, deciding how best to spend money, at the same time I'm trying to save it up. What I already have is burning a hole in my pocket, but I'm still not sure exactly what I want. Have more than enough for a CZ, but am only half way to a 1710 or 1712, and havent handled any of them enough to really know what I like. I've always appreciated a really nice .22, and have wanted an Anchutz ever since I shot ISU with an Anchutz 1913 Match rifle in highschool, but have never had the available green, and am not sure what configuration. I'll probably never shoot ISU again, I'm not that dedicated to MS yet, I work weekends and don't get to attend many matches, and there are other disciplines in the area, BR50, SB-Prone, Mini-Palma etc.... and of course they all have their own rules and no one configuration does it all. I know the usual advise is go out an try everything. Not even sure why I'm posting this, must be board.

a annschutz 64mpr will do all of the above. get one with a rail and you are all set.

64MPR will probably put you VERY close to the weight limit.

How about a nice 64MS?

I had not considered the Anchutz 64 action, and have no experience with it. It certainly comes in more general purpose configurations than the Anchutz 54. How much of a step down is the Anchutz 64 action? Are they still significantly better than the CZ's? I also noticed at Champion Shooter Supply, Creedmore, and Champions Choice, the Anchutz silhouette models are discontinued, out of stock, no longer available new, including 54.18ms, the 1416ms, and the only thing still available is the 64MPR and the 1710 and 1712, so I guess I'll have to troll the used market if I decide I want one of the MS models.

You might look at the Weatherby XXII; thats an Anschutz 64 action in a Weatherby stock.

The CZ Varmit would not be a bad of an option.

Get a 1712, you won't regreat it. You get something else, and within a year you be wishing you had an Annie.
