If you like SB and Airgun silhouette DO NOT try High Power!

So I think I went and did it ALREADY yesterday. Gone and got myself hooked on shooting HP. After our SB match yesterday a couple of us setup the 300 yard scaled swingers we had made to shoot a few rounds and a they wanted to get some chrony readings. I only took a dozen shots or so but man was that fun. The new HP custom rifle build is soon in the making I can tell already. Here are a couple pics of the swingers all of which are set at 300 yards. I had no idea I would be as successful as I was with the few shots I took but all the years of airgun and SB shooting and demanding follow through really has paid off already I think. Not much following through with the HP

We didn't shoot a match just jacked around. These are the hits from myself, Tureau and Jeaux. To think I dropped off the 300 bullets for the gentleman that is providing me a loaner for Zwolle to load. If a dozen rounds or so has me this jazzed I will be well hooked after another 300 lol.

So what should I build? 7mm-08 perhaps or .260 or maybe go old school with a .308 :P Anyone got any opinions around here on the best HP cartridge =)) I am thinking 6.5x47 Lapua actually as I liked the recoil and the fact I have friends with all the gear to load it already :)

All the really well centered shots were mine of course 8)

Dee, with your neck...6.5X47 or .260 if you are going to shoot matches. Eighty shots of that is enough in a day. Yes, I've shot the 7mm Gurus 7-08, only the cpt loads....no ram loads. The recoil will get to you with 80+shots in a day.

Not if you are the Guru. He is unaffected by recoil.

I think he is unaffected by everything. He exists in his own little world.

Trent, I also know Dee...as well as the Guru. As an instructor, a 6.5 is a better choice for Dee. Yes the Guru can handle the 7-08...even if he does still ring a ram or two!

I have watched the Guru bang away at the HP gongs at Zwolle endlessly until he runs out of light....I have come to the conclusion that there must be something in the pot of Gumbo he cooks up...

6.5X47 is a great choice, very efficient, mild recoil....excellent accuracy....good choice.

The Guru just likes the ringing of that gong sound in his ears.... that's why he shoots at the closer ones as the ones at the Rams distance don't ring... they just laugh =))

Many paths, but only one way...
