I have a Kimber HS and pushing a kroil soaked patch thru with a Dewey rod I noticed it was turning to the left !! It drives me crazy to have left hand twist in a barrel. It turns off jags from cleaning rods. Just really annoying. I have a TC Hornet barrel the same way. The Hornet shoots really great tho, don't know about the Kimber yet !!

Does it make a difference when wind shooting? I keep thinking of right twist barrels and how they react to wind from my stool shootin days.

Shouldn't the left hand twist actually tighten the jag?

Are you pushing the jag through from the chamber or from the barrel?

From the Breech end (chamber). Old adage...lefty loosy...righty tighty !! Unless it's left hand thread. My 22 Hornet TC barrel is left twist as well, I even called TC they said it was nothing to worry about. It does shoot good tho.I guess I won't fret over it.

In reference to your question about twists and wind: I think it’s interesting but I don’t know if we shoot far enough with 22’s to make it a factor. The Palma and long range guys call it drift I think and they normally attribute about 1 MOA at 1000 yards to it. I believe left hand twists drift left and right hand twists drift right. There is some information in “The Wind Book for Rifle Shooters” about it. And I believe the military had a standard for every so many minutes of elevation, there was a offsetting windage adjustment required.
I’m also curious about whether or not it’s a factor at the distance we shoot SB. 22’s have such a slow twist it may not be much of a factor at any reasonable distance.
