1712 vs. 1710 Whats are the differences?

Found a 1710 I'm considering but see more mention on the 1712 in the posts. What am I giving up with the 1710 vs. 1712. I currently shoot a 1422 is the 1710 just a newer version. Thanks for th advice. doceaux

The 1710 more of your hunting configuration, single trigger and has sights on it (except the heavy barrel) and the 1712 is scope only and has the 2 stage trigger. I have a 1710 for our open sight league shoots.

Don't know how accurate the listed weights are but the 1710 shows about 3.5 oz heavier. Is there enough room to get a scope and rings on it to make hunter weight? Curious as to what 1710 shooters have found.

I have used 2 1710's for years. No problem making weight. I use a 50mm premier leup. and can make weight with it. I actually added weight on the other one using a 6.5x20 leup. great rifles. hawk-1

Either rifle is excellent. I actually prefer the single stage trigger in the 1710. It seems to be crisper. The single stage and two stage trigger can be found in the 1710 or 1712, so the trigger group is not specific to the model. Two stage can come with a fixed or movable trigger blade. The 1710 has a standard barrel, medium barrel in the early models, and a heavy barrel. The HB would put it into the standard class. The 1712 had a very light version and the more common standard weight sold today. There were also 3 stocks, so that is also a variant. So there are many versions and in my opinion, those differences are worth exploring. Just for BS, I don't like the Mcmillian stocks, classic stock, or heavy barrels. Triggers are about the same to me, but I prefer the single by a hair. If you plan on a heavy scope like a 4200, I would get the lighter 1712 to save a bit of weight. If you can get the standard 1710 at a good price that would also be a good choice.
