New Remington markings.

It has been awhile since I looked at a brand new M700. Remington has gone to another marking method. Looking thru a 10X loupe the main outer marking looks to be CNC engraved with a .030 dia. flat end cutter. Looks OK....but why start marking the bolt handle recess, too. It appears to be dot impact installed and has either Braille for tiny fingers or a language only recognizable to beings from the planet Zebulon. Call me old fashioned but I much prefer the original roll marked or die struck trade name.

It's a form of bar coding, so they're probably done for automated production control.

Its so the factory can tell between the real thing and a copy or fake made in some other country(mainly china). A lot of companies are putting those type of bar codes on there stuff now.
