I also have been wanting a Air Rifle for small bore practice. I shoot a 1712 in hunter class. I found a FWB 300 in great shape for 650.00 I dont know the first thing about air guns. Would this be a good rifle and price or should I look for somthing with a stock closer to my rifle? I would want to scope it the same as my 1712 will this rifle tear up a scope? So far in this sihouett game I have bought somthing then replace it. I would like to stop the habit.
thanks, Sparky

That's price seems to be on the upper end a bit, but the really good condition ones seems to get near those prices. As another poster replied in the thread a few posts below, if you want to replicate your 1712 then the FWB300 is not really much of a replica. Great offhand stock, and great rifle but I agree with the poster that an Air Arms S400 or S410 would be a better choice to simulate the 1712. Check out the stock shapes here and see how closely they represent the 1712:

A bit more expensive than the FWB300, but a GREAT air rifle.
The 1712 is a sporter stock, the FWB is an offhand match style stock. Chalk and cheese really.
If looking for FWB300 info; search here for a history of prices and also the possibility of finding one.:
