Results of adding a four thousandths thick shim made from an alumnium drink can under the the rear Weaver base on my Anschutz 1416 were;
40 meter point of impact up 1.9".
Lowered elevation adjustment on the Leupold 12X 4.5 minutes (18 clicks) to zero chicken setting @ 40 meters.
40 meter group @ 1.9" hi was .36".
40 meter group after zeroing was .34".
Windage was not affected.

Tools needed;
Ultra fine Sharpie.
Sharp scissors.
Sharp punch.
Drill bit slightly larger than screws.
Screw drivers.

Elevation that was within 2 minutes of top @ ram setting, is now 6.5 minutes from top.
Accuracy seems unchanged.

I am not sure why the rifle makers don't give you enough elevation on the back of the action but I have had to shim just about every rifle I have. I guess they all think we zero our 22s at 30 yds and our highpower rifles at 100 yds.

The problem is that they are designed to be set for a standard distance for most rifles. If you want to set a high powered rifle for 200 yards, or a smallbore for 75 yards, it will be close to center. Going out to the longer ranges we do, puts it a little out of center for what they are designed for.

You might question the Weaver "T" series about that because they are supposed to be designed to fit this sport.
