I went and met a great group of people. They made my first match alot of fun and I took home a truck load of info.

Thanks Mr. Ed Jones!!! You put on a great match. I look forward to being at all your matches.

Well I shot a 13 out of 40 in Hunter class. Had to go to a shoot off to decide the unqualified winner. We had to shoot at Turkeys. Took me several tries to hit one. It was exciting with everyone watching. Glad I hit one first. :D

I then shot a 13 out of 40 in rifle class. At least I'm consistent. :D Had 5 in a row chickens going and missed the last one. I got to quivering I was so excited.

It was a pleasure to meet everyone. Thanks for making my first shoot a fun and addicting one.

Jason,
Ed does run a great match. Sorry you couldn't make to Brunswick, just finished a great meal of fried Flounder, cheese grits, cole slaw and beans followed up with key lime pie, caramel cake and well your choice of drinks.

Welcome to the addiction, now sign up for WInnsboro, see you there!

Good job Jason. Enjoyed meeting you.

I was more than a little hacked at myself all during the match. Knew I could do better than that. Darn scope almost fell off the rifle when I put in the rack the last time. Guess I need to add "scope mounting screws tight" to my checklist. A backup rifle would be good idea too.

Had fun anyway. Take care,

Bill Holmes

Bill, it was great shooting with you. I knew something had to change when you hit the 3rd animal over from where you were aiming. Looks like it started getting looser and looser the whole second match. That's a good learning experience. You knew something wasn't right. It wasn't that ammo after all. :D

Thanks for a supporting me my first time.

Thanks for the good words. It was a great day. Might have to get you a 4-in-a-row chicken pin.
With several regular shooters at the Georgia State match we still had 19 turnouts. The good news was there were 6 NEW unclassified shooters. NEW BLOOD !!
The gate problem is a pain since every non-member must call and be met and escorted from the gate to the silhouette range by a member (usually me) (SOP) which means several trips (~1/3 mi) between arriving at the range at about 10:30 until everyone shows up at about 11:45 which is range set-up time.
The good news is - After unlocking the storage building, not much more is said and all of a sudden, “walla” the range is up and ready complete with sight-in targets, gun racks installed and targets painted. Seems everyone has found their favorite task and just do it. What a great family of shooters….
After the match and shootoffs, “walla” again and everything is gone and the line swept while we are filling out the books for about 10 minutes. Then awards and we are on the road. Playing Match Director for this group is a pleasure since it is almost like a finely tuned team effort.
C ya next month. Remember - it is on the 29th (5th Saturday) next month. That way we can all go to the NRA Annual meetings in Charlotte and hear Sarah Palin and the “Gunny” on the 14th, 15th & 16th..

The grits is usually enough to gross out the typical Yankee and keep them away. It's really just a simple misunderstanding. Funny but they don’t mind eating polenta. Must be the pronunciation. Go figger !!
