CLA (full distance) thoughts

Trying to get silhouette started at my local club, that used to have IHMSA. We have 200yds max, and a few other considerations due to flood prone areas. I found 5 of each animal, full size, still on hand, plus some other misc animals of strange sizes.

So, for the cost of 5 more of each plus stands and berm work I could have full distance Lever Silhouette active in Virginia. The questions are numerous, but the most critical would be how popular are full distance lever gun events?

I could jump to combined events with hunters pistol and lever for a lrager cash price up front, with the benefit of being a better potential draw with chances for pistols as well as lever guns.

Is there a niche for the full size? I dont see too many events in this region, which makes me wonder about the viability.

Anyone got thoughts????

I would have to say nothing ventured nothing gained. If you build it they will come! I'm sure there are a lot of old 30-30s in your area collecting dust. Put the word out and see if you get any interest.
Look to any of your local clubs and send out notices in your local NRA affiliate to see if they could post an ad about silhouette in your area. Then sit back and see if you get any response. good luck and glad to hear there's another club in the game. :ymhug:

The club is in King George VA, about 19 miles east of Fredericksburg.

There is some silhouette nearby= Cavalier near Richmond (an hour south) has High Power rifle to 500y, Smallbore rifle, hunters pistol(with CLA on the same day\range). Fairfax (an hour north) has the same but the High Power is 200y reduced.

I dont want to compete with these clubs, rather find a weekend they dont use and add to the schedule IF there will be interest. Not only do I have to justify the cash outlay to get the targets, gongs, and berms created, I'd also have to commit to being the Match Director.

On the positives, the club may be willing to buy resettables for Smallbore Rifle!
