I have a cz American that I've had for a bit and like. Saturday I went in the local gun shop and spotted a cz special military trainer in 17 hmr. Well turns out the poor littlt fella followed me home. I have never shot groups like this one will shoot. At 50meters I shot a 5 shot group that was .3" and if you subtract the .177 that drops it to .13". My dad and I did this several times. Anyway my question is would the lux in 22lr be just as good as the American for sbs? I really like that style! Any oppinion is welcome. Thanks

I also have a CZ but it's the synthetic stock silhouette. It shoots very well for my ability. You really have to punch it out to 100 meters to see what it really does. Most likely the 22 lr - Lux, American, & Silhouette will all shoot about the same if you find the right ammo.

17hmr is not allowed in smallbore silhouette. But as for American vs Lux, what ever fits you the best is the one to shoot. The accuracy of the firearm, with ammo that it likes is essentially the same.

In my experience with the 22lr and 17hmr CZs, the 22lr versions are very accurate for 22lr guns but not anywhere close to as accurate as the 17hmr rifles are. The root of it is in the cartridge design, I believe, as that seems to be true for most all brands out there. To answer your question, though, the 452 rifles usually have about the same accuracy across the models.

My Special (same stock design as the Lux) was more accurate (I still own it) than my American (I sold it). Stock shape preference is the usual criticism of the Lux/Ultra/Trainer-Special for silhouette. For me however the boarback stock allows good purchase on my shoulder and a passable cheek weld.

Is the rear sight on the lux or trainer removable? If so is it easy to remove and replace?

Blade/elevator is easily removable by pressing downward and pushing rearward (I think). I've been told by a gunsmith friend that the band that holds the sight base and barrel lug can be driven off, but I've never done it. I just removed the blade, used BKL 257 rings and my V-24 fits fine. I also floated around the barrel lug and removed the front bedding screw.
