1st match

I got to shoot my 1st match today. I actually shot 3- 40 target matches. They let the rookie squeeze in an extra. I had a great time. I'm totally hooked now. I went to a very nice private range. Thanks Number10GI for inviting me. Me and dad had a great time.
My scores were 4,11,9. Pretty low but I learned alot. I can't wait to get my new leupold with the 1/2min leupold dot. I could hardly find the small target dot in my weaver. I tried a weaver scope with a 3/4 min dot. Very nice. I believe I'm going to have to send it off to get one installed.
Here's a picture of their range. Thanks again Steve. Looking forward to next month.
I don't want to leave this out. My dad wanted to come along but he didn't want to shoot. I talked him into bringing his CZ 452 american. He shot the first match with us. He kicked my butt!!! He knocked down 13 out of 40 his first time ever trying to shoot off hand. He's hooked!!!!

You're quite welcome Jason, I enjoyed meeting you and your Dad. Considering that small dot your scope has you did very well. Looking forward to next match.

Great job to both of you too!.
Is that a shooting range, or a golf course??

They have a nice range. Very private and relaxing. We even had a few live Turkeys come out to watch us shoot. A couple owls were cheering or laughing at our misses one time while we were on the line. What a day!!

Last week we had a rooster pheasant walk from one end of the firing line to the other end about 20 feet from the muzzles of about 10 High Power silhouette shooters!! That must have been a rare DEAF pheasant!! Most of us stopped shooting to laugh at the dumb bird. Clearly it had never been shot at and was quite used to the WHAALAP! of a variety of big bore rifles.
Evidently it's not uncommon for wildlife to interrupt matches.
It's funny that you are already thinking about the next time. Spoken like a true addict.

I don't think that goes away either, it just gets stronger.

jjp, having my own private range (a few miles LOL from where I presently live) I can appreciate what you shot, beautiful range BTW. Yes wildlife does interfere with matches, I've seen deer, turkeys, pigs, roadrunners, snakes to name a few. What really gets to be addictive is to attend a large match like the CBC, Southern nationals, and usually most of the state or regional championships and enjoy the food, watch or join in on the pranks, and side bets.
Truly addictive and relaxing. Look forward to seeing you and your father at a few of the matches, and bring the kids along, they will have fun too. Many of the great juniors that I have seen come up through the ranks started with grandparents coaching them. Or in one case Kolby R, talked his grandmother into shooting as well, so now Mom, grandmom and Kolby all shoot...the father and grandfather as simply the gun bearers, guess they can't handle the competition!!!

Wow...how much $$ to join this nice club? Good looking range. Where is it? Maybe the owner could set up a BBS for traveling shooters. (Bed, Breakfast,& Silhouette)
Trent, I went out to CRC again to shoot HP yesterday. Had to take advantage of the forecasted nice day. Three antelope does were grazing in front of the turkey berm. They took off as I was approaching with the target hauling truck. Glad I went because it it snowing right now.

Bob, I was planning on coming out for the smallbore match today but this shift back to cold made me want to stay home and cuddle with the wife.
I remember seeing lots of antelope tracks out there last weekend and Kevin told me that they come across the range sometimes when everyone is out there shooting.
