Well I shot a few groups at 109 yards. With a slight breeze and me at about 50% I thought they were pretty descent. Last Monday I ran a 100 year old barn nail through my foot so I have been in some pain. Glad they make good meds. I've been walking around yesterday and today so I'm getting back to normal.

My rifle is an Anschutz 1712. I started out this morning with a Weaver 6-20 grandslam and figured out that I didn't like the 1/8min adjustments at all. I ran out of adjustment so I had to take the scope off anyway so I went ahead and swapped over to a Weaver V-16 with target dot. I'm using Burris signature rings so I put a 20+ insert set in the back and a 10- set in the front. Worked out really well. I shot groups with SK standard + and Wolf match extra. Here are few pictures. I just quickly laid my calipers down beside them for reference. I measured outside of the white so actual measurements would be a tad less. I believe either one will do fine with all my movement. Now I need to get my zeros for the other 3.

SK standard + average of 7 groups = 1.527"
Wolf Match Extra average of 5 groups = 1.3524" (Impacted 1.5"-2" lower than the SK's)

The last 10 shot group was the last of the day. I didn't include it in the average. It was a great way to finish up the day.

Actual group size is measured center to center. It's even better than you thought. Measure from outside of one hole to inside of the other.

Thanks, I was just doing a quick reference measurement. I'm tickled so far. I used the dirty bird targets just so I wouldn't have to walk to much with my sore foot.

Or just subtract the calibre (.22) from what you measure got.

Your first post gave me shivers! Between the age of 7 and 11, I stepped on a nail every summer and suffered the requisite tetanus shot each time. Now they say the shot is good for seven years.

Todays my last day of antibiotics. The wound is healed except for alot of bruising. It still really tender. I'm lucky it didn't get infected. I know I will quiver when I see a nail sticking out of wood again. Thanks for the thoughts.

jjp, Nice groups but have you tied any less expensive ammo. You might be surprised with the results with Eley Sport. I know I had to cut back a bit and for club mathces and I'm using either Eley Sport or Aguilla with good results.

The lowest I've tried is the SK standard and wolf. I will have to try some Eley sport. Anything to be able to shoot more is a good thing.

Try to avoid the Eley Sport! I may get flamed for that, but the best thing to say about Sport is that shoots pretty well for really dirty ammunition.

In the 1712 factory barrel try Eley Target: It's drier than the other Eley or even SK - something factory barrels seem to prefer. Custom grade barrels like more lubricant, although the SK is hard to beat.

Those groups look pretty good, 109 yards for a .22 is quite a distance for shooting tight groups. Take a trip up to Champions Choice in LaVergne on a Friday and get a few different lot numbers of Eley where they have at least a couple of cases on hand. Test them that weekend and if one does really well call Champions Choice on Monday and have them hold a case till you can get there. It's amazing the difference in accuracy there can be between lot numbers. Looking forward to shooting with you on Saturday.
