3p and silhouette gun

Hello

New guy question.

My son is just starting in 3p, and I am looking at getting him a CMP Kimber M82 or a CM-2.

I would like to use whatever I get for NRA Silhouette down the line, but both guns are around 12 pounds!

Can anyone recomend another alterative, that would serve for both, in the same price range?

Thanks

Anschutz 64 MPR should do fine. Same price range is tough, unless it is used. You could find a regular 64 MS or MSR and have a rail installed. If it is a scope league he's in, then the Weaver 6-24 works fine at 50 ft. If he needs irons, you need to throw in more $$. You would need to ask around, maybe at rinfirecentral forums, to see how folks have used irons on 64 MS and MPR. My 54:18 has the standard scope rail in back, and grooves in front.

Anschutz 64 or 54 action. There are still some older 14XX series floating around, with rails. The Remingtion 540 X is another that could be used in standard rifle, as well as 3P.

I have a Cm-2 Cadet that I use for silhouette and prone shooting. Nice rifles with adjustable triggers and can be used as a standard class rifle.
