CMP does have heavy barrel 40X's for $400, and stripped action/barrel assemblies without bolts or triggers for $275.

While it's tempting, I already have two projects cooking and a third in planning so I have to let this opportunity slip away.

remlilja, You should be a member of your state Association and I'd suspect that membership would make you eligible to purchase thru CMP. If not join Wyoming State because ours will. wyossa.com Thanks Roger

I have a 40X with the lighter barrel that I could part with. It is the old style, I guess made in the 1950s, or so I was told. Something under 700 bucks seems reasonable. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Takes you about 5 min to register on the CMP sight, then go to the e store and order what you want, you have 14 days to get them the paperwork.
Need Birth Cert, Drivers lic, belong to a state association/club that's affiliated with CMP( you can check to see if yours is on the main sight), and show any score from any matches you've shot(match bulletin.
Very easy.
