I'm new to SB silhouette and i have bought a weaver t24 scope but i don't have any instructions on how to set up the turrets for the 40-100 m ranges. would someone please explain how to do so.

Most folks set to '0' for Chickens then take thier settings up to the Rams, usually around 2-2.5 up for Pigs.. etc... etc.

Yep.. the instructions should say how to remove the little screw in the middle of the knob so that you can turn it around and put it back on with 0 at the mark facing the shooter. Just sight in for chickens at 40 meters and then set the knob to 0 there. For my T24 on my Anschutz 1712 shooting Eley Club EPS ammo (don't remember the speed), my usual settings are +2 1/4 minutes for pigs, +4 1/2 minutes for turkeys, and +8 1/4 minutes for rams. It can vary a click or two depending on temperature, weather conditions, and elevation of where I'm shooting, so I do make final sight-in settings during the practice/sight-in period before the match.

as i also use my target 22 for silhoutte, i keep the 0 on the turret to reflect my 0 at 50 yards. then i adjust the elevation turret either up or down until i have hits on the target (from prone with a bipod).

i keep the adjustments (color coded) noted in my databook to reference, and make a color coded line on the turrets to match the particular setting, along with the animal shot. example chickens red, pigs blue, turkeys green, rams blue (i'll have a little drawing colored next to the # in the databook). this way i can do the paper competition and silhoutte without getting too confused by not only keeping it numerically, but colored also.

Why didn't I think of that??? b/c I'm totally color blind? I guess I could use red, white, blue and what other color that would not run into these since turret is black. O, ya, yellow. So, where do I find color tape? Some office supply? I am really at a loss folks.

I use colored labeling dots from the local office supply. I cut a thin "slice" from each and affix it to the turret to correspond with known distances. I use green, yellow, red, and blue. I then use clear packing tape (cut to fit the turret) to wrap over all the pieces to hold them in place.

We use the little jars of model airplane paint, and apply the dot with a toothpick.

Don't forget the little animal stickers Paul makes(stsbuyer). Tbone used them exclusively, they look cool and you can get any color you want. Orange is especially nice.

Now wait a minute Hammy..the red ones are better.

the most visible paint i have found (if you choose to use paint) is "bright sight" sight paint. i use it on all my 3dot tactical stuff and even use it to make a ring (cover the white ring) around night sights to make them highly visible in the day.

you can make a dot with white paint or primer 1st, then when dry apply the bright sight paint. very good stuff.

i used to use jig paint also. (for fishing lures)

i tried using highlighters (pens for office)on the white adjustment marks themselves, but they rubbed off too easily. good for temporary use.

I'm not sure I would actually mark up my target turrets on my scope. Depending on changing conditions, I have to change my adjustments up to three or four clicks from a chicken zero to rams. It might be ok for marking the objective bell of the scope, though. My Weaver T24 has markings for the silhouette distances and is close enough with the marks that I just have to use the right edge of each one when changing distances.
