I'm in the market for a good bolt gun that will be ok to shoot in both hunter and standard. I have looked at several and the one that I like the most is cd 452v. Is this a pretty good choice? I've had an American and didn't like the feel as much as the varment.

I just sold my CZ 452 Varmint to buy a CZ 452 American. Being almost a full pound lighter the American suits me very well. What is even better is that so far the Federal 510's have shown to be the most accurate... what a surprise that is !!! Have tried Remington "Target", Federal AutoMatch, the Federal 510's and Federal Bulk Pack 750's so far. Would like to try the Federal 711B but so far it has been Mother Hubbard's Cupboard everywhere that I have looked. So far have worked out my scope settings for Chickens at 40 meters and Pigs at 60 meters... will work on Turkeys and Rams tomorrow. Optic is a vintage Weaver T-10 in Burris Signature Zee rings. I've no complaints at all about the American, for me atleast it looks to be the better choice.

havent seen any other CZ other than the american(wimpy) and from what ive read not the best stock to try to bed the action.

thinking about the silhouette CZ till i saw this one, im curious too, has anyone shot either of these two rifles? would be nice if the varmit came with the option of graphite stock.

The 452 Varmint is a personal favorite, especially with a Timney trigger, and they make excellent Silhouette rifles if you're okay with the weight.

Well it's a done deal. I bought the cz452v. I haven't got a chance to shoot it yet but I love the feel. I held a kimber and almost went with it but the trigger was 8 oz. The weatherby was beautifull but for me the cz felt better. I like the weight. With scope and rings it weighs 7.924! That's perfect. I have a timney on order. It should be in next week I hope. Is there any usefull knowledge I need to know on the installation?

Just make sure the safety works since there were problems on some of the early models. Replacing the original trigger is a pain, but the worst part of installing a Timney is enlarging the stock in-letting for the trigger - the rest is a breeze.

I have the Timney trigger and it only adjusts to #2.5. I purchased an adjustable sear and lost another #1 using the
stock spring. I've read were others have dropped to under 16oz safetly with just some spring work. I know bench
shooting is WAY different then what you are doing here but we don't have matches in our area. I'm looking into
starting something. My 17HM2 Varmint shoots WAY better then I do but still not to bad for 50yrds.

No, mostly because I picked them up used. Thanks for the welcome. Like I said I have since installed the adjustable sear from R/T and droped to 1lb.6oz and could not be happer with a very crisp break.

Thanks for all the help. I really like my cz varmint. I installed the Timney in it and love it. I can't wait to shoot the match this weekend. Thanks again.

That little CZ if a fine gun, good job on the trigger...Mallory liked it....but then, Mallory never met a gun she didn't like....Should be a fun match this weekend...Everyone back in town...Everyone come on out and join us..

Start unpacking a new or different gun and Mallory just sort of materializes behind you, wearing a big grin and waiting for her turn to shoot. Amazing young lady - never met a rifle she didn't love, kind of looks at them like puppies that need cuddling...
