Anyone have contacts for full sized swingers that will take HP? The only address I have located is targetsilhouettes.com and was unable to find any pricing info. What is your recommendation on hardness? Thanks Roger

Roger, send x-pilot a pm, his kid just got us some swingers for our range. Some of our standing animals are AR-500 and some are 500 Brinnel, I don't know the difference between the two, but the worst that has happened to them is the feet has been shot off the chickens a few times! No chips taken off from around the edges, and no dents that I have seen. We keep our steel locked up between matches, so the 50 bmg and the likes don't shoot up what we have.

Hi, Jim,

The reason the feet are coming loose on the swingers is because the weld is breaking off.

More than likely reasons:

Poor cleaning of weld joint
Not enough penetration of the weld (too cold)
No pre or post-weld heat.

We had the same problem over at 3 Points and, as the guy who repairs the critters started paying closer attention to these little details, the breakage of feet started going away.

Later,

Joaquin you are right. Use 11018 low hi rod it will work better with AR plate and T1 . Most people use 7018 which is for A36 not AR or T1. Semper Fi.

J.B. & Bill, not my headache anymore. X-pilot's now. The way is worked was a couple of farm boys would do the welding on the steel, I wouldn't tell them how to weld and they wouldn't charge me anything for it, it was a win deal for me!
