Might be missing a match or two...

I know Neihouse knows about this already, but there are a couple others that sent me messages asking where I've been, since I haven't coming here or to matches much the last couple of weeks. Well, a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll give you two thousand words' worth. It was a great day at the racetrack right up until this point. I'm the one that was on the red/gray #73 bike.

End result was an assortment of bumps and bruises along with a broken collarbone and two broken ribs. No road rash at all, though. I'll try to be at the upcoming 7/19 smallbore match at Machias, but don't know if I'll be able to shoot the newly-rebarreled 1712. I'm aiming for my next highpower match to be the state match at the end of August. Don't know if I'll be all that eager to take recoil from a highpower gun before then.

That looks like it might leave a mark. Glad you are going to be OK. How bad was the other guy? And the bikes? Steve

Hey Jason, so thats where you were yesterday. We missed you down at Pe Ell for the highpower. Good thing your alright. Does insurance cover track days? I got lucky myself the wednsday after Memorial day as a dog decided that he wanted to run out in front of me while I was making a left turn. Got some roadrash and a spranged ankle. Wont get the bike back until the middle of August ~x( good to hear that your allright. I thought maybe you went down to Laguna Secca to watch the Moto GP boys zip around the track.

MS,
I got broken up a bit but my bike was relatively unharmed (total damage <300$). My gear and my helmet (I loved that thing, one of very few in the U.S.) got hammered a bit, but that's better than me getting torn up. The other guy had one finger with a cut or sprain or something, but was otherwise unharmed. His bike was damaged pretty badly, though.

Shakes,
Yep. That's where I was. I actually put the bike back together yesterday, including putting the street bodywork back on it and fixing/replacing the parts that needed it. It was a long, slow slog trying to do it with only one hand that can bear weight or put much pressure on anything. The bike insurance doesn't cover track days. My health insurance covers me at the track, though.

Well, glad to see both Jason and Shakes are up and walking... I think I know why I haven't taken the ride out in a year or two...

I love those motorcycles as well, Honda has a front impact airbag available on their big bikes and are working on side airbags. Hopefully someday we'll look back and say " Ya, we used to ride bikes that you could really get hurt on ".
You think the Harley guys will still be riding naked, figuretivly speaking? I'm guessing that it's a baby boomer thing and saftey equipment will be the norm for everyone. Heal up fast and get back out there buddy. :-bd
Lover of helmets and kevlar, Kevin

I'm thinking that a safe bike looks a lot like a car...

I was just starting to seriously think about getting a Honda CBR600RR. But not if it might stop me from shooting at some point.

Although I've never done drugs personally I have heard people describe the feeling/thrill, riding a motorcycle is that addictive. Once you've had one you can never be without one, it's the most exciting thing a person can do with your clothes on! \m/

Tried shooting my first matches since the crash yesterday. First 40-shot standard rifle match in the morning wasn't too bad. I shot decently well (32/40) and rib pain started creeping in about halfway through the match. For the 40-shot hunter match, I was hurting from the start and it got really bad by the 4th animal. I ended on chickens and couldn't even breathe deeply. The odd thing, though, is that the worse I hurt the better I shot. I was visibly steadier as the pain increased, and I ended up with a 34/40. Anyone else had something like that happen? Any guesses as to what caused it? My only idea is that the pain was pushing all the other crap out of my head and I was just concentrating on shooting to get it overwith.
