1712 finally set up

I just finished setting up my 1712 rifle I bought from Neal Johnson's

Bushnell 4200 6x24 target dot, 257 rings from bkl, thin rubber butt pad from pachmyer, using a buttler creek flip open scope cover for the left eye patch so I can keep both eyes open.

One down side is that I am going to be real close on weight. I will get it weighed soon.

Any ideas on how to reduce weight on this wood stocked gun.

Thanks

Kevin

I forgot to add. How much weight would I save using Marv's bottom metal on the rifle?

Marv's bottom metal. Marv's top metal, i.e. base and rings. If that doesn't do it I have a forstner bit and an extension so you can ream your butt. :D

I knew Marv was a hard ass but I didn't know he had a metal bottom. All serriousness asside, the best thing you can do with your wood stock is replace it with a plastic one. Wood is more trouble on a gun stock than it's worth. Now that lots of guys are going to aftermarket stocks, there are some 1712 FWT stocks floating around. They just bolt in, they are light, and they dont move every time the humidity changes.
