Our clubs Wednesday night silhouette group met last night and shot some long range .22 silhouette. This is adapted from the BPCR match, downsized for rimfires. Thought some of you might like to get your clubs involved, lots of fun. This will put to rest the question of whether or not the .22 rimfire can be fired at ranges over 50 yards.

Here are the targets, 3/8 scale IHMSA smallbore, I put the paint cans in there to reference the size. Chickens are fired at 77 meters, pigs at 100 meters, turkeys at 150 meters, rams at 200 meters. Chickens are fired offhand, all others off the bench.

Here are the rifles, as you can see we dont have any equipment rules other than the rifle must be .22LR. Rifles include Remington 541, Sako 78, Henry, Stevens 44, Winchester Low Wall.

The wind bothered us a little last night, it swirls around in the canyon and can be blowing three different directions between the firing line and the rams. Winning score was 50 out of 60 with two others firing 49/60. We have trree sets of the swinger targets which moves the match right along with only one or two time outs to go paint targets.

Good pictures Jer. Think NRA will give it approval? Separate the scopes from irons? Just seeing the old falling blocks etc would be interesting.

Great pictures! Range and rifles. Wish I could afford the time and $$ to go to more matches. Planning on the Wyoming State match. Hope to see everyone there, espcially those Stevens and Winchester single shots.

Well, several other clubs around the country are trying this in one form or another. Likely the NRA will eventually get involved and formalize it, with lenghty and complicated equipment rules, classifications and categories all of which will be changed at least once a year to suit the whim of the Competitions Division, running off most of the people who might want to get involved and eventually reducing match attendance to the point it is not worth doing anymore. 'Course, that has never happpened before, so there is yet hope.

We already know the NRA doesn't like the Winchester Low Wall and won't let it shoot in the Cowboy class, even though its a period rifle but will let a semi auto tube feed, so I'm sure any rules they come up with will be just as stupid as to reduce match attendance.
