Looks like were in for some good weather sat and sun for the 2009 Conard Bernhardt Cup in Pe Ell this year, mid 60's with some sun and clouds mixed in. Steve didnt shoot this last sunday to go work on the range to get it ready for everybody, he's made a couple of improvements since last year. The door prizes and dinner should be great as always and I've heard we have another great prize again this year . Last year Laura Goetsche walked away with a Anschutz 1710 in a Wooster stock and i belive a Shilen barrel with work done by Mr. Marvin. who knows maybe I'll get lucky this year . See everybody there.

Woohoo! I'm already getting excited and having trouble concentrating on work. I might even drag the rifle out and practice one or twice before the match. Nah... I'll just start eating now to make sure I'm ready for all the food!

Nice weather would be awesome! I am introducing a new shooter to Pe Ell this year. After all, isn't that our mission to bring new shooters to the event? Nice weather means he might come back some year. Of course I needed someone to have a backup gun since Nomad is not going to be there to rescue me from disaster as he did last year. Phew! Gun is packed and ready to go on the plane tomorrow. Let's hope it survives the flight!

Two favors to ask. First, Mark and I need a review of how you modify a Savage magazine to fit the 54 action. I've seen them but never made a real study of them. Second, I picked up a LH 1415-1416 Anschutz for my daughter....but it has no rear sight. Nice slot for it but it was missing. I figure with all the guys who fit cusom barrels etc etc...someone might have a spare kicking around they might sell me. I scooped some pictures of what I assume a rear sight would look like here (removed). Figure all you can do is ask. See you soon.

I hope y'all have a good time and a safe match. Speaking of the aforementioned rifle, I believe that was what Ms. Goetsche used this weekend at Chattanooga. Poor thing only managed a 38/40 with it.

It looks like a cold front is moving in. To us, that means it will get down into the mid 90s. To PeEll, that means cold and rain. It always rains at the CBC. I will bring my long johns.

Anyone got ideas for stuff to do tomorrow (Friday) night? I'm crashing at Mike's (mordecai) house but he has a meeting he has to go to tomorrow night. I'm planning on hitting Cabelas or something, but need something to do for dinner.

If you're talking about the little place with the grill out front that we went to before, I'm up for that. I can drive us out there if someone wants to navigate, too, so I'll know how to get there myself next time.

New Hampshire crowd, all two of us, made it to the range today. Steve already has chicken wire up and everything organized. So, given we have not shot at all in 2009 we started working out the cobwebs. Thanks Steve!! We are sitting in the bucolic Motel 6 in downtown Centralia. Oh ya, my gun made the trip this year!

You'd think Jason would at least share his new prize and let me have half, but noooo.... he doesn't want to saw it in half.

You mean that awesome high power rifle that was the secret prize Rem 700 in.260 with a shilen barrel, jewell trigger, one of Steve Woosters stock designs, a set of Marvin's rings with work done by Keith Cairns , Marvin Pearson , and Steve Wooster . With everytning donated by fellow shooters. A HUGE thanks to Steve for all the work he does in putting on the Conard Bernhardt Cup year after year . Cant wait till next year.

Got home late last night, but had to play with it and get a scope on it. Here's the only picture I have from Saturday night dinner. Thanks to Magda Cockerline for taking this and emailing it to me.



I'll try to get some better pictures tonight, complete with scope. It weighs in a 8lb 12.1 ounces with a Weaver T24 and Eyeblind on it. It's an awesome gun, well-built and beautiful. I hope to get to shoot it in a match (first highpower match I'll have ever seen, much less shot) next weekend. Many thanks to Gary Malberg for all the help with getting started with the reloading stuff. Just have to get my hands on some brass and a couple more little things and I'll be ready for the match!

Again, thanks to everyone who donated parts and everyone who worked on it.
