Changing focal length on a Leupold 24x

I have a great 24x for highpower! It must have a 6 inch eye relief. That is what you get for buying scopes on line. I have 3 24x (non BR-D but not the early long types either) I know how to tweak them to change the range of focus with a handy dandy tool given to me by a great TX shooter. Thus you can tweak them for SB or Air and back again and avoid any trips to the custom shop. I regress.

Is there a way to DIY the focal length of a Leupold and avoid sending it to the custom shop? It is a perfect scope for this game but I can't handle 6" of focal length...maybe more. Perhaps it was tweaked for a pistol shooter?

TIA!
