Here are the conditions before the start temp at 35 wind blowing from the south at 17 to 21 miles per hour. A few die hard shooters decided to improvised to make shooting a match at least some what tolerable for January in Colorado. It did warm up a little for the Hunter Rifle match to about 43 degrees. With the wind chill factor figured in the temp was 24 to 30 degrees. Look at the pictures. I would have not shot with out the tarp.

What would you do shoot ? or go home and wait for a nicer day ?

Mary,
We shot a bunch. The problem was the air we warmed up was in Wyoming about two minutes later.

On rams in the second match I had 11 targets standing at the start of the relay. Only had three rams in the first set. I had to pick and choose targets with my spotter to get started.

At the end of the second match the wind shifted from the south to the west. That brought on a new problem. It's a little disorienting when a tumble weed goes through your sight picture at about 15 mph when you're shooting at the pigs.

Big Deal, just average wind conditions in Phoenix or Tucson... on a really windy day, about 8 years ago, I was blown all the way to Wisconsin, as Jim noted a while back. Now, THAT's windy. :)

A day at the range is always fun. Even with the crazy wind and frozen trigger finger.

Talk to you soon
