The hospitality of this community is unparalleled.
Duckgumbo prodded and enticed the WA contingency enough for us to move whatever was on the schedule so as to make Winnsboro! He's promised a circus and everyone tells us he'll deliver.
Ms. Mary offered to mail our prizes back from Florida, which was more than kind in itself, but when a bushel of Florida Oranges arrived in addition, there's not much else a person can say but Thank You!
Thanks again everyone, I hope on your future visits to Conard we can return the hospitality!!

Mordecai,
The oranges are at the tail end of the Florida season but should help to get you in shape for the marathon at Winnsboro....lots of great food, some minor gambling (only on or near a boat in LA), lots of BS and a generally a good time if you can figure out where you are sleeping.

Mordecai,
I can remember when a certain unnamed individual from Pennsylvania was on his cell phone getting prices for all the prizes that he was going to win. Dawg and a couple of other reprobates promptly put the PRESSURE on this master class shooter. To paraphrase Chicken George - He folded like a cheap suit! You may not win anything shooting, but I promise you enough stuff in your ditty bag and the door prizes that you win that you will need shipping to WA!
By the way, the shooter from Pennsylvania is no longer shooting silhouette! Maybe BS, but not silhouette. If you cannot stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen around here. We only give back what we receive!

Don't forget the grits for breakfast cooked in a pot and stirred with a (presumably) clean boat paddle......

We may do some boiled gar one night and some chitlins for the Limey! One way or another the beer will be priced right!

I'm just thrilled that I may get to participate in the whole "Trifecta" - I mean, heck, if a guy's going to make the first two, who can say no to the 3rd match? Seriously, I figured if I made one "travel match" in a year, it would be awesome, but to get to sweat it out with 200+ other bullet slingers and this Cathedral and beer wagon? Who can miss such a thing?
I'm not one for heat or humidity either, but the more I think about it, the more I think it'll be like the wearing my bunker gear, pulling hose and putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff, sweat and all - and no Jellyfish!

Jason let me paint you a word picture......
A beautiful, small southern town with wide, tree shaded avenues populated with beautiful antebellum homes....A place where modern convenience stores and eateries share the same block with cotton gins that only past generations could tell you when they were built....A place where your are thanked for your purchases in the local establishments with a genuine, sincere "Thank you, and y'll come back" punctuated with a smile....A place with a gun club with lush, well manicured lawns and silhouette ranges so pretty you almost want to take your shoes off before you go down to set targets....A place where it's warm when you wake up and you can rest in the assurance that it'll be warmer still during the day, but a pleasant coolness will descend as night gently falls on you and your companions as you relax and revel with your friends both old and new after a long day of competitive shooting.....A place where the world class shooter shoots side by side with the average, every day club shooter in a tournament that rewards B class shooters with the same prizes as master class shooters and the door prizes just keep coming.....
That's Winnsboro

Well put Kitty. We are up to 223 shooters now and will probably fill up to the max of 240. Don't worry as we will have plenty of door prizes and NOT run out of beer or food! I have ordered a cool front for the match!

No Jellyfish Mike, but do be aware that there be at least as many things that will bite, sting and try to eat you in Louisiana as there are in Florida.....You didn't heed my warning about the jellyfish in Florida, but take to heart my warning about the bayous in Louisiana......Don't pet the water moccasins and for goodness sake don't be taken in by the 'Gator's smile.......And just for clarity's sake I don't mean this Gator....This one's okay.....I meant the 4 legged swamp dwelling kind, not the 2 legged dancing kind..

I don't think that Gator is coming this year, but who knows? If Mike comes in early enough, we will take him on a cultural tour of the area. Just ask Limey how entertaining and informative it is! He learned to speak Southern on that trip!

You'd have to make it as informative and educational as the Kitty Cultural Tour of Portland Oregon.......Chiken learned a whole 'nother language up there..

Not sure what I learned on that cultural trip, well other than never take the asking price, haggle!!, what $5.00 bucks will get you, what jake leg is and old barns at the side of the road with a old tatty tin Bud sign on, are one hell of a bar. I cant say anything about open containers and driving!!!. People had trouble understanding me before i learned southern, now no one even try's. I do know it's a great time, food, people, entertainment. The Southern Nationals are the highlight of my year. It's not just the folks at the gun club, it's every one in Winnsboro, Hell it's everyone South of Up North. I leaving in just over a week.
