Get ready for the Conard Cup...

Just to give you a tip on what clothing to bring with you, I thought I'd share a factoid that I got in my daily email from a local TV station.
Since Nov. 1, we've had (count 'em) only 10 days considered mostly sunny. (And four of them were in January where the average temperature of the day was 33 degrees or below.) It doesn't look like that will be changing soon.
Umm.. yeah. We have a well-deserved reputation for getting rained on, but this winter, and spring for that matter, has set numerous records for being so cold and wet. It's like God has decided that all the ultra-liberals here in western WA that keep screaming "Global warming is real!" need to be taught a lesson and I get to have mildew on my freezing ass because of it.

Mr. Mc Alise...I sincerely wish that you were coming to CBC 2008...but the cutoff for the entry date is only two days away and there are only five spots left open. 100 shooters Max...

It would have been nice for me if we could have met face to face and perhaps we could have spent some time sharing a glass of beer together and talking some machinist like stuff here in my little shop. It aint much, but not so bad for an old fart like me working in his garage.

There have been several wonderful people I have met over the last several yaers who post here that have made their way by here, either going to, or coming from the " CONRAD" Cup over the past 10 years, I was hoping that I could someday include you on this list, Sir.

Merv. now I just read your post, and I really liked it. Sounded very profesional. You better quit thinking of yourself as an old fart, Hell I am 65 and still don't feel like an old fart, even do I can't shoot worth a shit anymore.
I might make it there next year.

Heh, if you really are from Cuba like the nickname Cubano suggests, you'll freeze to death up here, Evelio. I'm from southeast Alabama, and even that's a few hundred miles north of Cuba. I've been here 10 years as of June and I still think it's too cold for civilized people to live here the whole year... :)

Marvin, no need for formalities here. Call me Bob. I am suprised you still have a few openings, thought you would be turning people away by now. As you are probably aware, HP silhouette is my main focus. I'll be in Phoenix this weekend for their state match. To me , this one is the "Conard" of highpower. I like shooting smallbore and shoot a match locally just about every weekend. But with limited vacation time and funds, I plan my road trips around HP.
To this day I have never shot a SB national match. Ridgway this year will be the first. If I'm driving that far for HP, might as well do both. Some day I will attend the CBC. And yes, we will drink together and talk "shop".

Tell you what we should do. Next life time you, me, Evelio and Mark Pharr should combine our talents to produce the finest silhouette rifles money can buy.

By the way......Gunny is going to go ballistic when he sees how you spelled Conard. Good shooting to you , Sir.

Yes I was really born in Cuba, I even met Castro personally ( which I had a gun with me then) I have been in the USA since 1959, did a couple of stints in Nam, and a few other things that I forgot about !!!!! been in Alaska at about -40 and it sucked, actually anything below +50 is uncomfortable. Weather in Houston is great, high humidity most of the time, but it beats the shit out of that damm white stuff. We get to shoot out doors all year long.
You all need to come shoot the Southern Nationals in Winnsboro, you will never see anything like it. From what DuckGumbo is saying, 2010 may be the last one. !!!!!!
Regards Evelio.

Bob....Mr. McAlise, sir. I already do produce the best silhouette rifles that any amount of muny can buy......OK..not really...just kidding...

Evilo, looking forward to meeting you face to face also sir, but I will not be able to take you out to eat at my favorite bar and grill because I have not been allowed back in there since Ducky and Chicken and Kitty and Pavel Prozack and another one of Canadian pals got me 86'ed from the place in 2006....

I think it was just that Kitty kept snapping photos of all of the local chicklets in their halter tops that got everyone in my small hometown bar all so pissed off...I have a CD from Kitty with the photos to prove it....Chicken....I think that you might not to remember this night....Need I say more...Anyone of you offenders remember this ?

Marv,

Now that you mention it, I do remember that afternoon......Follow the link for a few photos from that evening.....We did have a good time.....As I recall, Ducky, Chicken and myself got thrown out of another 'ahem" club for "bad behavior" a few hours before our flight left Portland after the Cup was over....Chicken spent the flight from Portland to wherever the heck it was we changed planes throwing up in the lavatory while Ducky and I napped..I was surprised that they let me back into the state the following year..Silhouette shooting can be hard on a person....

Thanks John for the photo! I have been looking for the proof needed to start the international lawsuit againsk the Canuk (AKA Shooting Paul) for CHIPPING MY TOOTH on the rim of the shot glass as he slammed my head into the table!

This is great!!!!

A little back ground on the girl.

She walks in alone... Chicken makes a statement proclaiming he could get her to come sit with the group! Oh man, the uproar of laughter was heard for blocks!!!! She would not give you the time of day, blah blah blah....

Chicken gets up, goes over, laid down the trap.... Back to the table she comes....

Now from there... it was all the Krazy Canadian ALL OVER HER ... and I do mean ALL OVER HER....

The whole time Kitty is snapping photos like we are in a photo shoot for some raunchy mag....

Good times... Really good times!

Ya know George, I did take the mug Pavel abscondided with back like two days later and they promptly, but politlety asked me not to bring anymore "foriengers" in there again...Imagine that.

Hell, I told them you guys were not foreigners, just Southerners...Just no sense of humor I guess....

Chicken,

Was that the trip that we had the redeye flight out and started calling everyone who was in Duckgumbo's cell phone contact list at sometime before dawn????.....By the way, I do remember the difference between Chicken and Pavel (aka PePe Lepew).....Chicken is talking to his sweet wife back in Arkansas on his cell phone and we're in the aforementioned pub that we are now banished from and Pavel asks to talk to Chicken's wife. Pavel commences to sweet talk her in his best French Canadien (spelling?) accent and says says "Sweet woman, do you know the difference between a Chicken and Pavel? (I'm trying to type with an accent here) Eeet eees about......" We'll enought of that story. Was a great trip, looking at those pics really brought back some good memories.....Had a great tour of Mr. Marvin's shop and picked up a pair of those exquisite rings.....Food was good, company was great.....Weather sucked though.....wet and cold...imagine that.

Kitty,

I just want to add that Chicken is a BAD influence on anyone. Like he's never been in these type of establishments that he coerced us into attending and then got us booted out!

Cubano,

Jerry and I run hot and cold regarding 2010 being the last year, but as long as we have fun doing the match, we WILL host it. We are just getting tired of trying to get better each year; however, we seem to come up with something. Do not count us out after 2010 regarding the Southern Nationals and that is all I have to say regarding the matter.

For the benefit of all that are planning on attending the 2008 Southern Nationals, this will be our best event to date as we have mucho (for the benefit of Cubano and the El Paso crowd) bullshit planned and a host of other entertaining events. If you have not heard, Robert Masshole and JoAnn are getting married and we are planning a lingerie shower on Saturday afternoon after the match. This includes gifts for either the bride or groom! It will be something to see and we may get Masshole to model some of his gifts! On the other hand, it may be a bad move regarding the PG event at Winnsboro Gun Club!

I have not heard of any challenges being thrown out yet, but the time is early. We are receiving record amounts of entries daily and I will tell you that we will stop at 240 competitors and we may very well reach that number!

Hope it's not going to be like your last lingerie show......
