I bought it from a friend, who got it from a friend that made it in South Africa.


It is kinda cool with the 2nd World Silhouette Championship sticker on the side. I like the history that it has.
And it feels prretty good, too!

If old scuffed up stocks are "bling", then yeah!!

I don't know, I think it looks pretty "bling." Shiny glossy finish, lots of interesting smooth curves, fancy bolt, and that bit of silhouette history adds a nice intangible factor. Looks like it would fit nicely in the hands of the shooter. I'd give it a 6 out of ten on the bling scale.

Looking at it, it looks like there's a lot of long heavy barrel to it and not much in the butt of the stock (i.e. appears front heavy to look at it). But it seems to me the most beneficial place for a rifle to carry its weight is in a long, heavy barrel. I bet when you get it all bedded it'll shoot like a dream. All told, what does it weigh in at?

It looks like it might be a little high in the cheek piece area, which is good for getting the eye in line with the scope, but illegal if its too high. Is this a legal silhouette stock? Can you sight through the center of the barrel or does the cheek piece come up higher than the bore?

I'd say you've got a nice looking shooter there. Let us knoow how she shoots when you get her all buttoned up.

(d) Stock: The stock must be traditionally styled and may not be bent and/or twisted so as to deviate from conventional configurations such as factory rifle stocks or silhouette stocks as manufactured by Fajen, McMillan, H-S Precision, and others. The forend, including the trigger guard mounts and screws, shall not exceed 2 1/4 inches wide, and 2 1/4 inches deep measured from the centerline of the bore. Magazines do not have to conform to stock measurements but those that extend below the stock line may not be used as support. The forend shall extend a minimum of 8 inches forward of the forward edge of the receiver ring. The comb shall not extend above the centerline of the bore, but Monte Carlo roll may rise 1/2 inch on the off side. The toe of the stock including buttplate or recoil pad shall be no more than 7 inches below the centerline of the bore. Buttplate or recoil pad may not extend below the lower line of the stock.

Is there a simple way to tell if my stock is legal?
I think it is, with the MonteCarlo roll 1/2" to the side.
How best to determine these measurements?

It is my understanding that the rules for stock design have gotten more lax in recent years, so you're probably ok. The best thing would be to just take it to a match and ask the match director to check it out for you.

At our local range the only thing I've ever seen them check is overall weight and trigger pull weight.

I've never been to a big match where they check these things, so I don't know how they do it. I'd say with a tape measure you could make sure you're within most of those dimensional limitations. As for checking how high the comb is, drop your magazine, empty the rifle, pull the bolt out completely, place the rifle with a light source coming from behind it and just look down the muzzle through the barrel towards the comb. If you see the comb rising more than halfway (above the centerline of the bore) it's illegal. If not, and if it meets all the other criteria, weigh it and check the trigger pull weight and you'll know.

I reckon if it past IMSSU it would be legal for NRA. The main differences in the rules are in "Hunting" not Silhouette rifle. Here in Australia we will will welcome any visitor using either NRA or IMSSU spec rifles to our Nationals. Although we follow IMSSU at the current time.

Comb can be a tad higher than centerline of bore, if the rollover is offset, but must be able to see through the bore is my understanding.
