I had the same issue about six months ago. I finally decided to just not put totals in my scorecard. I put down all the Xs and 0s, but no score. I don't look at the scoreshoot other than when I'm writing Xs and 0s, and I don't mentally try to add them up. I don't think about needing a few more to get a certain score. The only thing I allow to be in my head is where I want to hit the next target. My thought when I'm shooting is "Just concentrate on the spot. Don't worry about score or trigger break. Those things take care of themselves." I seriously went from high 20s with an occasional low 30s to high 30s and an occasional 40 out of 60 just by doing that. I worry about trigger break when I'm practicing on blank targets, in the dark, or with my eyes closed. The rest of the time, I don't think about it because I want it to be subconscious. It's helped a lot.
Oh, btw, like most of what's helped me in silhouette shooting, I got this little "clear your mind and concentrate on the spot" mindset from Dave Imas.

Chicken,
Too much worrying! I have not shot ONE bullet since Arkansas in 2005 and anticipate shooting the first shot in Jacksonville n April. Concentrate on having a good time and not how many animals are scored!
I don't shoot worth a s**t and don't give a s**t! Too much whiskey to drink and too little time to do it in!!
You should listen to Troy if you want to really get good.

George:
In Phoenix and Tucson, when faced with your situation, we all call for the tractor, as it is the only sure-fire cure for SIRC, also known as "Shooter's Intra-Rectal Craniosis"

(Came up with the term all by myself)
We sometimes also refer the cause of this situation as "Excessive Headspace", and the best advice I have ever received from Tony Tello and Agustin Sanchez (it actually works when I remember to use it) is to concentrate on shooting 40 one-shot matches and forget about scores, missed shots and upcoming shots. Stay focused on the task at hand and think of anything other than your score during relays.
Best of luck,
Joaquin B.
