• Finally got a 1712!

Champion Shooters just got a few in today if anyone is interested. I went ahead and got one as I'm afraid they will keep going up as the Euro gets stronger. Hope it is worth the dent it put in the Visa card....

When I first started shooting, maybe 5 years ago. Al Dart (junior shooting coach ) in our range advised that I get one(1) credit card for all my shooting needs and that way you can keep tract of all your shooting expenses.

Every time I shoot below par, when I go home I pull out the statements for that card and psych myself to do better next time to compensate for all these expenses.

When I shoot on or above par, I know it was worth it.

Have fun with your 1712, my wife and I did and still do.

Congrats Glocker17. I picked mine up last night after work. I ordered just the barreled action, going to have a custom built up. Played around with mine last night, its amazing the fit and finish those Germans can produce. Going to have to wait awhile to take mine to the range though, I cant wait till its done. Will post some pics when I get it back. Like BlauBear said, I forgot about the credit card damage as soon as I opened the box.

Got it last night, put a 12X Leupold on it with BKL rings. Hoped for a little nicer wood, but I guess thats not what you are paying for. Need to weigh it some time. Will try it out this weekend.

Had a few questions about it. The trigger came set to between 3 and 3.5 lbs not the 2.2 I was expecting. How hard is it to adjust?

Also, does the plastic bolt knob come off? Looks almost glued on, i want a larger one like on the 54 match guns.

You only have one spring on that trigger, go to the screw in the front, and turn it counter clockwise, it will make it lighter, don't go more than 1/4 turn at the time. The plastic bolt knob is threaded and glued, wrap a towel around it, and go at it with a good pair of pliers. WARNING some come off ok some will crack in two pieces. Have a replacement in hand before you try it.

Thanks Evelio for the info, I will take it out of the stock tomorrow. I guess I better order that bolt knob now.
